DWT’s Jarrod McClure Fourth at GNCC Racing Opener

Bunnell, FL (3/13/2014) - DWT/ Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) rider Jarrod McClure finished fourth in the ATV XC1 Pro class out of 19 total entries at the GNCC Racing opener in Bunnell, Florida this past weekend. McClure’s teammate, Randy Hamilton, grabbed the XC2 Pro-Am ATV Holeshot

For 2014, Jarrod McClure formed his own race team, JMR Racing, and Randy Hamilton joined the team in the XC2 Pro-Am Class.  They are both racing the Honda 450R with the help DWT, Elka Suspension, Teixeira-Tech ATV, and many more great sponsors, which had the team excited to put their new setup for 2014 to the test at the Mud Mucker GNCC in Florida.

The Mud Mucker GNCC is a new race location for the GNCC opener in Florida, and in addition to the usual sand, whoops, and palmetto roots that challenge the racers at the Florida opening round, racers this year also were faced with some deep mud holes and plenty of water after an extremely wet winter, so the “Mud Mucker” lived up to its name, which made it a challenge for even the best of racers to finish the race.

Baldwin Racing’s Jarrod McClure came out of first turn in the third spot, but he backed it down once he hit the deep mud sections to prevent sucking any mud into his engine.

“My Baldwin engine has some great power and pulled an awesome holeshot, but that first lap was a lot of chaos, and I wanted to play it safe even if it meant losing some positions, my goal was to get out of Florida with a good running quad and focus on Georgia and the rest of the season”, said McClure.

McClure carefully picked his lines for the five lap race, and he rode smart and used a strategic pits strategy to work his way back up into the fourth spot by lap four, which he held to the checkered flag for his best start ever to the GNCC Racing season.

“I definitely used a little pit strategy to get a few guys, and I can’t thank my crew enough for getting me in and out”, said McClure.

JMR’s XC2 racer, Randy Hamilton, edged out the field of seventeen racers to grab the XC2 Pro-Am class Holeshot Award, and he was off to a great start to the race, but the mud coated his quad, that caused overheating issues, which forced him to the pits and shortened his race to save his ATV for Georgia this weekend.
