Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) racer Jarrod McClure
claimed his second podium finish of the year with
a third place finish in the Pro class at the John
Penton GNCC in Millfield, Ohio. McClure endured
a fierce last lap battle with pro rookie, Brycen
Neal, but was able to hold onto the final podium
position. JMR teammate XC2 Pro Am racer Randy
Hamilton claimed the fourth spot in the XC2 class

Round eight of the GNCC series would be held
in Millfield, OH at the Sunday Creek motocross
track. The John Penton GNCC is one of the oldest
tracks on the circuit, and this was the 25th anniversary
of GNCC racing at Sunday Creek. The Ohio terrain
is one of a kind, and with some rain during the
week racers were looking at a fairly decent track.
The morning racers reported some slick hills out
there and a lot of dust, but no major issues for
the afternoon race.
McClure was able to pull a great start and went
into the woods right behind the top five. As the
racers came around on the first lap Mclure had
hooked onto Brycen Neal and the two were pushing
each other a majority of the day.
“I finally got the start I wanted. It was nice
riding out front with that lead group. The first
lap though the dust gapped out the top six, and
it left Brycen and I riding together trying to
catch back up,” said McClure.

McClure rode in fifth until the final lap, which
is when two racers in front of him had some mechanical
issues dropping them out of the race. McClure
did not know he was battling for a podium position,
and when he crossed the line in third, he was
surprised.

“I am stoked to come out of here with a podium.
I did not realize Brycen and I were battling for
third place, but I fought just as hard as if it
was for fifth place. It was nice having someone
to race with out there. Brycen pushed me that
last lap and that is what both of us need to try
and catch that lead pack,” said McClure.

After eight rounds of GNCC Racing, McClure is
sitting fourth in the XC1 Pro Class with teammate
Hamilton also sitting fourth in the XC2 class.
The JMR Team will be ready to go in two weeks
at the Snowshoe GNCC in West Virginia, which is
the final round of racing before the GNCC summer
break.
