Snowshoe, WV (6/27/2014) - DWT/ Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) rider Jarrod McClure secured his third podium finish of the season this past weekend at round nine of the GNCC series in Snowshoe WV. McClure rounded out the XC1 Pro ATV Podium finishing third overall for the day. JMR teammate Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton also appeared on the podium finishing third in the challenging XC2 Class.

The Snowshoe GNCC is like no other, and is known as the most challenging race on the circuit. The track provides conditions comparable to the old “Blackwater 100”, meaning grueling terrain composed of rock gardens, creek crossings, and steep up-hills. The starting procedure is also related to the Blackwater roots with racers going off in rows of five with live engines and racing against the clock.
McClure would start in row one due to being fourth in the overall points, and he went into the woods in fifth just behind Mcgill, with Bithell and Wolfe close behind. As riders tackled the muddy terrain they swapped positions multiple times. All the while McClure stayed in the mix of the top five.

“It was nice being on that front row just out ahead of everyone riding my own race. Its all about being patient at this place, one wrong move on that first lap and you will drop ten positions. My goal out there was to just keep moving and try not to get stuck. My DWT tires worked so awesome out there, I had tons of traction even in the slick stuff,” said McClure.
McClure hooked onto Adam Mcgill and Brian Wolfe about the halfway point, eventually taking the lead for a lap. The trio of Honda riders battled together till the end swapping positions. McClure crossed the finish in third for the day only seconds behind Wolfe.

“Once I caught Brian and Adam we were really clipping at a good pace. I got around both of them in the pits. I had no idea I was leading the overall, it is really hard to know what position you are in here. I am pumped to finish on the podium again heading into summer. My quad was working awesome out there, the Elka shocks are working so awesome and I love the ground clearance of the Teixeira arms, said McClure.
JMR’s XC2 Pro Am Racer Randy Hamilton started on row five and was able to put himself on the podium for the first time this year finishing third in the Pro Am class. Hamilton battled with Marty Christofferson most of the race. Hamilton was able to make a last lap pass in one of the mud holes securing his third place finish for the day.

Heading into the GNCC summer break the JMR team has really picked up some momentum with three podium finishes in the last two races. McClure is sitting fourth in the XC1 Pro Class with teammate Hamilton sitting also fourth in the XC2 class. The JMR Team will be taking a few weeks to enjoy summer break, but hopes to pick up right where they left off in September at the Unadilla GNCC.
