MCR's Beau Baron Wins Honey Lake WORCS
Race |
Milford, CA (5/8/2009) - eam
MCR’s Beau Baron took top honors at round
four of the 2009 WORCS series this past weekend
at Honey Lake MX Park, while newest MCR team member
Josh Row finished in the top five of the ATV Pro
class.
The MCR Team recently suffered a loss when
one of its top pro riders, Levi Marana, suffered
a wrist injury that put him out for the rest
of the season. Taking Marana’s place for
the remained of the 2009 season is Josh Row.
“I used to be partners with Josh’s
dad in some desert races, and Josh has a lot
of the same sponsors that the team already has,
so he was really a natural fit for us,”
explained team manager, Mike Cafro on how Row
was chosen for the team.
Row’s top five finish at his first WORCS
race as an MCR team member only confirmed that
he was the right guy for the job. “Josh
will probably become a permanent member of the
team in addition to Levi,” stated Cafro,
who was also very pleased with his star rider,
Beau Baron’s performance this weekend.

Beau Baron came from a sixth place start and
took over the Pro lead by lap number five of
the fourteen lap race. “On the last lap
I knew Josh Frederick wasn’t far behind
me, so I just pinned it,” said Baron,
who took his first Pro win of the season and
is currently second in the points chase. “I
went out there and gave it everything I had.
It feels really good to take my first win this
year,” Baron stated.
“We’re really stoked about Beau’s
win this weekend. He’s been doing great
this season and he has a shot at the championship,”
stated Mike Cafro. “His win this weekend
has given him a boost of confidence and I think
he is going to be trying even harder to win
again.”
Team manager Mike Cafro has been having a very
consistent season with three out of four finishes
in the top ten, including this weekend’s
seventh place finish. Cafro is sitting in seventh
in the points race and could break into the
top five if all goes well in the next few rounds.
Julie Russell once again claimed a solid second
in the Women’s A class at round four.
Russell came off the line in second and held
her position all the way to the finish line.
Russell’s determination and smart riding
style have really been an advantage to her this
season as she has been incredibly consistent
and currently holds down second place in points.
Cafro and the MCR team are already beginning
preparations for round five of the 2009 WORCS
series, which will be heading to Riverdale Raceway
in Toutle, WA on June 5-7 where Beau Baron will
be looking for another win and Josh Row will
also be gunning for a spot on the podium.
