Pro Motorsports / H&M Motorsports Win 12 Hours of La Tuque
Beau Baron, David Haagsma, Matt Hancock Win 12 Hours of La Tuque

Quebec, CA (5/22/2014) - The Pro Motorsports/ H&M Motorsports team of Beau Baron, David Haagsma and Matt Hancock charged their way to the Pro ATV Win at the 12 Hours of La Tuque in Quebec, Canada.

This was the second year that the team took on the challenge of the 12 Hours of La Tuque, and after some bad luck at the last event, this was their year for redemption. This year the team consisted of Beau Baron, Matt Hancock and David Haagsma who took on the sandy course.

The Elka Shocks on the team's Sparks Racing powered Honda 450R soaked up the rough track & the team was able to finish 8 laps ahead of second place

The race is broken up into three, four hour segments and teams compete to see who can do the most laps over the course of the 12 hour event. In the first session, Haagsma, Baron and Hancock completed 78 laps, with three other teams nipping at their heels. The competition was incredibly tough and the team knew they had their work cut out for them.

The laps were shorter than last year and the addition of rain the day before made the track get incredibly rough during the segments. Luckily, the track was groomed in between each race segment. “It got pretty rough out there, but our Elka suspension really soaked it up,” said Beau Baron.

In the second segment, the team again completed 78 laps. Knowing they had only one more session, and some very close competition, the team put the hammer down for the final four hours and completed a total of 84 laps. The Pro Motorsports/H&M Motorsports team was the only team that did not experience any issues over the 12 hour event, which was certainly an advantage and brought them the victory. “It was a blast this year. We came out here last year and we weren’t really prepared, but this year we were ready to ride. We were in third in the final leg of the race, and only one lap behind, so we just pushed hard and we were able to take the win,” said Matt Hancock.

David Haagsma
Although the track was groomed between sessions, the track quickly became rutted up. The Pro Motorsports / H&M Motorsports team completed a total of 240 laps

Even though the team is used to endurance racing through the WORCS series, it was still a very different experience, especially for David Haagsma, since it was his first year for the event. “The race was a lot of fun. Since it was so long it brought in different strategies and it was really exciting for me. I didn’t really know what to expect, but it was so fun. We had so much support from Elka, they really took care of us. It was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to come back next year,” said David Haagsma.

The 12 hour endurance race was split between three session, on of which took place at night that added yet another element to the already challenging race

In the end, the team won by 8 laps over their competition with a total of 240 laps completed. “We had a big win. I just really have to thank Elka, Maxxis Tires, Doug Roll, Sparks engines; our quad was fast and handled everything. We had a lot of support and that really made the difference for us and helped us take that win,” said Beau Baron.
