Lake Havasu, AZ (3/20/2014) - Pro Motorsports' Matt Hancock braved the heat and tough conditions at round three of the 2014 WORCS Series in Lake Havasu City, AZ to claim the final spot on the Pro-am ATV podium; giving him his second Pro-am podium finish of the season, which has him third in championship points.

Despite the brutally rough terrain and temperatures well into the 90s, Hancock shot off the start in third place. “I had a good start. My sparks engine fired on the first kick, and I just flew off the line the line with my Maxxis tires,” said Hancock.

Early on he dropped back several spots to seventh place, but Hancock’s strategy was to run a smooth and consistent pace for the entire race to conserve some energy for the final laps of the race, and by lap ten, Hancock had regained his original third place spot, which he held to the checkered flag for his second podium finish of the season. “I dropped back a bit early on, but I set a comfortable pace, so I had plenty of energy to push hard in the final laps and move into a podium finish,” said Hancock.

“The track was really rough out there but my Maxxis tires and Tire Blocks really helped me to not worry so much about what I was running through and focus on the race. My Elka shocks were working great as well. They soaked up all of the chop and kept me from getting fatigued, which was also a big help on Saturday when my suspension helped me take second place in Open A class to maintain my points lead in that class and I am currently third in the Pro-Am Class, which is my best start to the WORCS season ever,” said Hancock after the race.

In the SxS 1000 Class, Hancock encountered some steering issues in lap three while running the second spot right behind the leader, but a rock locked up his steering, which forced him out of the RZR to free up his front wheels, which dropped him back to 11th place.

Once back in the race, Hancock immediately began to gain spots with each passing lap, and by the checkered flag he had worked his way back up to a 7th place finish, which was his first time finish off the podium this year, but he is still in the championship race just three points out of the lead in the SxS 1000 class.

“My RZR worked awesome today besides a rock locking up my steering, but my Walker Evans Suspension, Maxxis Tires, and Tireblocks got me to the finish,” said Hancock on his finish.

Matt Hancock is looking forward to continuing his success at round four of the 2014 WORCS series on April 11-13 at Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, Utah.
