Doug Gust captured his second AMA ATV
Motocross podium of the season |
Brea, CA (6/16/2009) - Rockstar
Makita Suzuki Racing‘s Doug Gust captured
his second AMA ATV Motocross podium of the season
at the Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New
Berlin, New York, over the weekend, thanks to
a second-place finish overall. Gust piloted
his Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 to
two third-place moto finishes, which culminated
in the second-place overall result.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Dustin Wimmer
returned to racing from injury in the last
round and continues to improve. In the first
moto, though, Wimmer got tangled in a turn-one
pile-up and started from last place. Even
so, he charged hard on his Rockstar Makita
Suzuki QuadRacer R450 and worked his way up
to 10th place. In the second moto, Wimmer
rallied and picked up an impressive fourth-place
finish. All in all, Wimmer finished the day
in sixth place overall. In the overall AMA
ATV Motocross championship points standings,
Wimmer is in third place and Gust is in sixth.

Doug
Gust "It felt really good to be
up on
the podium again..." |
“It felt really good to be up on the podium
again. I had good starts and good motos, thanks
to my Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450.
It was pretty intense out there, but I kept
my focus and did what I had to do. The second
moto, I got a huge stick wedged in my brakes,
so I didn’t have any brakes and that made
it really hard to hold off the other guys. Now
I’m just working on training a lot so
I can be on top of the podium at the next round.”
Dustin Wimmer:
“I got caught in a first-turn pile-up
and was dead last, but I just put my head
down and worked up as much as I could. My
Rockstar Makita Suzuki QuadRacer R450 was
running awesome, as usual. We did a couple
of shock and motor changes on Friday night
and Sunday, and everything was working great.
My shoulder was feeling better for this round
and I feel like it’s getting stronger
every day. I’ve been doing a lot of
extra training and I am hoping to be back
on the podium at the next round. Meanwhile,
it was great to see Doug on the podium again.”
Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing will race
next at .the AMA ATV Summer National at Muddy
Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee, the
weekend of June 27-28, 2009.
