Team UXC Racing's Michael Swift 4th at Limestone 100 GNCC
Chris Robinson Wins TORN Round 3

Shelbyville, TN (5/5/2014) - Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) round number five was hosted in the countryside of Springville, Indiana. Rain on Friday set up near perfect track conditions going into Saturday’s race. As the highly competitive 4x4 Pro class took the line, Team UXC/Factory Polaris Racer Michael Swift #209 was ready to battle.

Michael Swift GNCC Racing
Michael Swift finished 4th in the GNCC Pro 4x4 Class despite having a bent rear a-arm

Swift left the line mid pack to take on the ten mile mostly wooded course. As Swift worked his way through the ranks he suffered a rear a-arm problem. Swift recounts the race. “I bent a rear a-arm that towed my rear wheel out five inches. I pitted to check the damage. After evaluating the situation, I decided to keep racing as long as I could.”

Swift’s dedication paid off. After two hours of racing he moved from last to a fourth place finish. “I am proud of my Polaris Scrambler 850XP and how it handled under the circumstances,” stated Swift. Number 209 will be in his home state of Tennessee for round six of the GNCC contending for a podium finish.

TORN Round 3: Crafton, Texas
Texas Off Road Nationals (TORN) round 3 was held in Crafton, Texas. With 85 degree temperatures and no rain the race was destined to be dusty. The course was just under four miles long with a few short wooded sections spaced out between some sandy whooped out field segments. To keep it interesting the field sections had split lanes allowing multiple spots to pass.

The dry dusty conditions did not slow down Team UXC Racing’s Chris Robinson. His Polaris Scramber XP 1000 EPS got him off to a great start. By the third turn of the race, Robinson had a sizable lead and held the lead until the checkered flag. “My Scrambler 1000 performed flawlessly once again as I brought home my third win of the season and extended my points lead. Thanks to all of my sponsors and I am looking forward to TORN round 4 on May 10th,” stated Robinson.

SCORE Round 1: Plaster City, California
The SCORE Imperial Valley 250 was a much anticipated event as it would mark the first time SCORE has raced in the United States in over 20 years. Race day began at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning. Team UXC Racing’s Chris Robinson headed to a remote pit roughly 20 miles from the start. Team members Don Higbee, Jason Wade and Juan Dominguez headed to the starting line to get things underway. The course was an 82 mile loop compiled of every kind of whoop section imaginable, from rolling whoops to peaked out rock whoops. The course also contained some very fast dry lake bed sections, along with some sand dunes, and a short course section with big jumps at the start/finish line.

Motorcycles were the first off the starting line at approximately 5:45 a.m. The ATVs followed shortly after at 6:15 a.m. Team UXC Racing’s Don Higbee lead the team off the starting line and piloted the Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 approximately 20 miles in extremely winding conditions with sustained winds of 20-30 mph.

Team UXC’s Chris Robinson took the pilot seat at the 20 mile marker at approximately 6:45 a.m. Robinson put in close to 40 miles before handing the quad over to team member Jason Wade at remote pit 2. “My section for the first lap was about 85 percent whoops with a few flat wide open sections in between. My plan was to keep a solid pace through the whoops and take full advantage of the Scramblers top end speed when I had the chance,” stated Robinson.

Robinson turned the quad over to team member Jason Wade near the 60 mile marker with enough fuel to finish the final 20 plus miles to the finish. The DirtWorks Motorsports Auxiliary fuel tank definitely provided an advantage in this long race.

Wade made the switch with team member Juan Dominguez at the start/finish line. Dominguez began lap two and put down 60 miles before handing the quad back off to Robinson to complete the final 20 plus miles to the finish. The team finished an impressive third with zero mechanical issues. Team UXC Racing is looking forward to the Baja 500 in just a little over a month.
