Shelbyville, TN (7/3/2014) - Round 5 of TORN was held at Red River Trails in Bulcher, Texas on June 21st. Red River Trails is located in North Texas just a few miles South of the Oklahoma border and has been holding off road races since the early ‘70s. The course for this years race was just over four miles and consisted of tight woods, a few fast field sections, several rocky hill climbs, some off camber down hills, and two creek crossings.
As Team UXC’s Chris Robinson pulled up to the line for the 1 pm race the temperature was 95 degrees with 80 percent humidity.
With a field of ten Utility quads and limited passing spots a good start would be crucial. The start section was on a sandbar off the creek with a 75 yard straight away down to a 180 degree turn then another 75 yard straight away before a hard left at the first creek crossing. When the flagged dropped Robinson’s Scrambler shot off the line and as everyone funneled into the first turn he secured a second place position as they headed down the second straight and across the creek.

“As we headed into the woods I settled just off the leaders grab bar and started looking for alternate lines to make a pass,” stated Robinson. Although there were few options, none of them proved to be faster. Entering the first field section just after the scoring shoot, Robinson started trying some different lines which allowed him to carry more speed through the corners and just before reentered the woods “I was able to make a pass for first place. After securing the lead my goal was to put as many lapped riders as possible between myself and second place,“ commented Robinson.
By the end of the second lap Robinson had put almost 30 seconds between him and the other riders. “I rode a quick but smooth pace all the way to the checkered flag completing seven laps. The Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 EPS was solid and my Custom Axis Suspension really soaked up the rocky hill climbs while keeping my machine planted to the ground in the sand whoops along the creek sections. The Maxxis Ceros tires filled with Tire Balls and locked down on Hiper Racing dual beadlocks provided excellent traction through the different racing surfaces with maximum flat prevention,” says Robinson.
Team UXC would like to say thanks to all our sponsors for the continued support! TORN will be on summer break until September 5th when the racing action starts back up. Next race will be the Vegas to Reno Best In The Desert race on August 15th
