Teixeira Tech's Duane Johnson, Michael
Burrows, Kyle Martin Win the Pro ATV
Class at the GBC Heartland Challenge |
Tracy, CA (8/26/2009) - Teixeira
Tech (www.teixeiratech.com) racers Duane
Johnson and Michael Burrows battled through
an epic 10 hour race to stand on top of
the podium at the 2nd Annual Heartland Challenge
Endurance Race. No more than 3 minutes separated
the 1st and 2nd place teams through out
the entire 10 hours of racing. The Teixeira
Tech sponsored team of DirtWorksMotorsports.com
won by just over 2 minutes.
54 teams made the trek to Carlisle, IA
to compete in this year’s event and
they were greeted with perfect weather and
a rugged cross-country race track. Johnson
and Burrows joined with fellow Missouri
racer Kyle Martin to form the DirtWorksMotorsports.com
team just weeks before the event. Both ran
similarly prepped Honda TRX450Rs which where
using Teixeira Tech’s latest XC setup
including the Long Travel Linkage and +1
Maximum Ground Clearance A-Arms. "It
is so nice to be able to get as good or
better performance out of the rear suspension
on the Honda, without having to run an after
market swing arm", Johnson commented.
"The OEM swing arms are stronger and
lighter which makes the rear suspension
work so much better on a rough track like
this."
For the first 9 hours and 10 minutes of
the race, DirtWorksMotorsports.com battled
wheel to wheel with the PRO teams of GBC
Motorsports and HMF Engineering, with 3
minutes being the largest gap between 1st
and 2nd place. As the final hour of the
race unfolded the team was able to take
control of the lead and pull off a victory
after 10:09:31 and 41 laps.
Teixeira Tech racer Josh Eaton took top
honors in the ProAm class with his Locked
& Loaded, Teixeira Tech, Dirt Works
Motorsports, team. Josh also ran Teixeira
Tech’s +1 XC a-arms and Long Travel
Linkage. Eaton joined up with Todd Senger
and Bryan Hulsey as the three man team won
by over 8 minutes and finished in 4th place
overall.
