Reno, NV (8/28/2007) - The
Teixeira Racing desert race team, Ed Teixeira
and Todd Hunter, took 1st place in the Quad
Expert class, and 3rd Quad overall in the
Best in the Desert “Vegas to Reno”
race on August 24, 2007. The race started
in Las Vegas, NV and ended 567 miles away
in Reno, NV. This is the longest off-road
race in the USA. It took the Teixeira team
12 hours and 28 minutes to complete this
brutal race!
The team started the race 12th off the
start line, riding a Teixeira Tech built
Honda 450R in its debut race. The first
half of the race was a cloud of dirt and
silt, leaving a lot of quads broke down
on the course. The Teixeira Honda barreled
through with no incident, switching riders
at every other pit and gaining a steady
lead in the Expert Class. A rear flat
tire was changed at pit 11, and lights
were mounted on at pit 14. Ed rode the
final two sections, bringing the quad
to the finish line just after the sun
went down.
This win puts Ed and Todd in the lead
for the BITD Silver State Series Championship,
with only three races to go. The next
race in the series is the Las Vegas “300”
on October 6, 2007.
