- Round 5 of the GNCC Series proved to be an exciting
weekend for Team Tom Clark Motorsports at Loretta
Lynn's Ranch in Hurricaine Mills, TN. An overall
win in the morning race from Angel Atwell, the
holeshot and a hard fought battle from XC2 racer
Josh Kirkland, and Jamie Bithell still maintaining
the points lead in College B were the highlights
of the day.
Angel's day began with a rough start, leaving
her dead last going in to the woods at the start.
Not one to let a bad start slow her down, by the
end of the first lap she had moved up to second
place. Shortly thereafter, Angel took the lead,
and never looked back. With over a minute lead,
she secured her third overall win of the season.
Sitting just three points shy of first place,
she's well within striking distance of the points
lead.
In XC2, this year's newest addition to the team,
Pro Am Racer Josh Kirkland captured the Rekluse
Holeshot award to start off his afternoon. After
leading most of the first lap, Josh put up quite
a fight, battling it out the rest of the afternoon
with XC2 alums, Ockerman, Dickerson, and Martin.
Josh finished the afternoon a very respectable
12th overall, and will no doubt be seen on the
XC2 podium in the near future. He's currently
ranked 18th overall, and has been inside the Top
20 Overall rankings all season.
In the amateur rankings, Jamie Bithell has held
the class lead in College B since Round 2. With
the natural Bithell talent and determination,
Jamie entered the B class this year after racing
last year for the first time in C class. He took
to the afternoon races easily, and with the exception
of an 11th place finish due to a broken throttle
cable in Florida, he has had all top 5 finishes
in his class.
With the John Penton in Millfield, OH, in just
two weeks, Tom Clark Motorsports Riders are training
and preparing for another excellent weekend.
