Tulsa, OK (12/31/2005) – The 21st
Annual Tulsa Shootout would prove to be a fatal
event for the young Jenson Roberts. On Friday, December
30th, during the first TT style heat race of the
day, Jenson was tragically killed when his ATV was
pushed to the outside and into a collision course
with the concrete barrier wall, which forced him
to bail off his ATV in an attempt avoid colliding
with the concrete wall head on, but it was too late,
and he would hit his head and back on the concrete
wall according to Josh Dresher. The impact was enough
to knock him unconscious, and he was rushed to the
hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he never
regained consciousness. Jenson Roberts was pronounced
dead at around 3:00 PM on Friday at the local hospital,
and he will be truly missed by his fellow racers.
Jenson
Roberts was only a teenager, but he made a major impact
in the sport that he loved and shared with his grandfather
before he too passed away several years ago. Jenson
took several years off from racing after his grandfathers
death, but he made his comeback in 2004 by attending
the GNC TT Series, where he was able to win the 265B
Class Championship, and in 2005, he moved up to 265A
and Production A with plans of eventually running the
Pro Class in the Extreme Dirt Track Nationals.
As more information becomes available about the funeral
arrangements for Jenson Roberts, ATVriders.com
will release the information, and we give our
sympathy to his family and friends.
