Five GNCC Round 6 - Lafayette, TN
                                - May 2, 2009
                                Lafayette, TN (5/11/2009) - This
past weekend the Can-Am Warnert team showed that
whether it be a familiar facility or a new one,
they are still the dominating force.

                                  | Bryan
Buckhannon was the only A.M. class racer
to finish with a time under the 2 hour mark | Weather played a big part in round six as rain
fell Friday and into Saturday, which gave the
utility classes a big advantage. The track was
similar in nature to the famous Loretta Lynn’s
Ranch, but with fewer hills and there was plenty
of mud to go around. The start was a very important
part of this race as whoever was in front, had
the clearest visibility. Leading the charge in the morning classes was
Bryan Buckhannon, who claimed an early overall
lead and checked out. Buckhannon kept up a blistering
pace, which had him holding the overall lead all
the way to the finish line, and Buckhannon was
also the only A.M. class racer to finish with
a time under the two hour mark. “It feels
real good to bring a win like this to the team,”
stated Buckhannon, who finished with a time of
                                01:56:43.
Right behind Buckhannon was 4x4 Limited class
racer, Michael Swift. Swift grabbed the holeshot,
but chose a different line that put him back to
second place, a place where he is not accustomed
to being in. Determined to take the win, Swift
made a hard charge, retaking the lead in lap two.
Once in front, Swift checked out and began to
gain ground on Buckhannon. Swift would finish
his race in second overall and taking his class
win with a time of 02:01:00. “The utilities
definitely had the advantage today with all of
the mud. The 450 classes were having trouble getting
traction, but we just hooked up,” said Swift,
who should wrap up the 4x4 Limited championship
before the summer break if he is able to take
the win in the remaining rounds before the break.

                                  | Michael
Swift finished 2nd overall and winning the
4X4 Limited class | Cliff Beasley, who is also looking to wrap up
the 4x4 Lites championship before the summer break
took one step closer to achieving just that as
he once again, dominated his class. Beasley grabbed
the 4x4 Lites holeshot and checked out. Beasley
ran a rather uneventful race, as he was unchallenged
for his position. Beasley took his class win with
a time of 02:03:20, which also earned him the
number five position overall. “I had a great
time out there this weekend. The bike handled
all the mud with no problem what so ever,”
                                said Beasley happily.
Rick Cecco claimed second place in the U2 class
and is still the points leader with 115 points,
which is 13 points ahead of second place. Cecco
grabbed the holeshot and led for two laps before
falling to second where he would stay all the
                                way to the checkered flag.

                                  | Brent
Sturdivant rode strong in the mud to a 5th
place finish in the XC1 Pro class | Meanwhile in the XC1 Pro class, Brent Sturdivant
put on a strong performance despite the muddy
conditions. Sturdivant was one of the lucky riders
who was able to miss a big pile up shortly after
the start, which put him in the lead for the entire
first lap. Even with the wet and muddy conditions,
Sturdivant held strong to take a 5th place finish,
his best finish this season. Round six of the 2009 GNCC series will have the
team heading to the rugged terrain of Somerset,
Pennsylvania on May 16th where Buckhannon, Swift,
and Beasley will fight hard to stay on their winning
                                streaks.
