United Kingdom (10/24/06)
- After the worrying crash in front of over
15,000 fans at Saturday’s opening day of the
Weston Beach Race, H Bomb Squad freestyle rider Christian
Gagnon is making good progress in hospital in Weston-super-Mare.
The 29 year old French Canadian, who crashed heavily
while attempting a 360 degree flip on a quad, has
a broken leg and sprained wrist. He will be undergoing
an operation to have the bones plated today (Monday),
and all being well he should be flown home to Montreal
on Wednesday.
It appears the crash was due to a combination
of factors, but was mostly down to the damp conditions
on and around the ramp which left Christian a little
short on speed. Despite the crash he is in great spirit
and has one eye on Weston 07 !! Speaking from his
hospital bed Christian said, “I am looking forward
to coming back to Weston next year for the 25th anniversary,
and completing the jump I started this year.”
