Ridgecrest, CA (5/14/2014) - Lonestar Racing’s David Flores topped the Production A podium at round number five of the 2014 WORCS series, giving him a three point lead over the competition heading into the mid-season break.
Conditions at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds in Ridgecrest, CA were good for Saturday’s Production A class. The winds were a little high at the 30 MPH mark, but that didn’t stop David Flores from dominating the competition.
Flores got off the line in second on the dead engine start and was staying close to the leader. “I was right there with the leader and in the second lap, he made a mistake by missing a shift and I was right there to take advantage of it,” said Flores, who then took over the lead.

Once out front, Flores pushed hard and pulled away from the competition. “After I made the pass I stated laying down some good laps and pulled about a 30 second gap at the finish line, and I was really happy about that. My JRi suspension was working great out there. The track got pretty choppy, but it soaked it right up, and my Goldspeed tires were hooking up great,” said Flores, who now holds a two point lead in Production A championship points after his win.

Despite a mechanical issue in the Pro-Am race, David Flores still sits fifth in points

Flores was feeling good for Sunday’s Pro-am race and started out strong. Flores was in second place early in the race and pulled the fastest lap time in his class in the second lap with a time of 08:43.230. Flores’ speed allowed him to take over the lead in lap three and it looked as if he was on his way to his second win of the season, but unfortunately a clutch issue took him out of the running. Despite his bad luck, Flores is still in the top five in Pro-am points and hopes to come back with win after the series break. “I was disappointed but I plan to come back strong and hopefully take a win at round six,” said Flores.
The 2014 WORCS series will return from its break on July 11-13 when it heads to Pala, CA where David Flores will be going for the win.
