Taylorville, IL (7/8/2006) - Jeremiah
Jones and William Yokley widened their win streaks
in the WPSA PowerSports ATV Championship Tour Saturday,
winning the Jack Link's ATV Championship at South
Fork Dirt Riders. Both Jones (No. 2 Team Suzuki, Yoshimura,
Fly/Suzuki) and Yokely (No. 23 Monster Energy Drink/Suzuki)
won their second consecutive races here in Round 5
of the 2006 title chase.

Wimmer Claiming the Quad Magazine $1,000 Holeshot
Award |
Jones won the SuperQuad Pro 450 event in dominant
fashion, passing $1,000 Quad Magazine Holeshot Award
winner Dustin Wimmer (No. 191 East Coast ATV, Axis,
Sparks, Maxxis/Honda) on lap three and cruising to
the finish. Jones netted his fifth consecutive podium
with the victory. Wimmer held on for second. With
his third-place finish, Doug Gust (No. 55 Team Suzuki,
Yoshimura/Suzuki) took the points lead from the injured
John Natalie, Jr. (No. 13 Elka, HMF, Swift/Honda).
Natalie suffered a severe thumb injury in competition
several weeks ago, and was sidelined this weekend.

laps until Jeremiah Jones was able to skim along
the edge of the whoops and make the pass for

Alba's
Kory Ellis finally got the start he so badly
needed, and he held onto a 4th place finish
over Jeremy Lawson with Doug Gust making the
pass to round of the Podium |
"We're just trying to put forth a top-flight
effort, get good starts and try to keep my bike up
front," said Jones, who missed Round 1 in Kentucky
due to an injury suffered during qualifying. "I
didn't really have much hope after missing the entire
first race, but it looks good now. I just need to
keep winning my heats and getting on the podium in
the finals. The track is really fast. It's a lot like
a TT flat track. It really takes a toll on you, physically,
because the pace is so fast. But any time you win
a race, it feels good."
Yokley won a wild QuadTerrain Challenge Pro Stock
event using a conservative strategy. Yokley, who started
sixth, quietly picked his way through the field. After
taking third on lap four, Yokley picked his spot and
took the lead on lap five from the $500 ATVRiders.com
Rock'n'Roll Award winner Michael Swift (No. 217 Maxxis,
Rox/Can-Am). The victory gave Yokley his fourth-straight
podium. Scott Kilby (No. 227 Maxxis, OMF/Can-Am) was
second. Jim Stack, debuting a new Kawasaki machine
under his No. 881 plate number, finished third.

"No one was giving an inch in that race,"
said Yokley, who moved to just four points behind
Daryl Rath (No. 67 Rath Racing, Maxxis, Douglas Wheels/Arctic
Cat) in the Riders' Championship. "I just made
a silly move in the logs and it played out. I laid
back and waited for my lucky break. I took third,
and I picked out my spot to take the lead. Luckily,
it all worked out. I was planning to finish the season
out, and now, if I keep winning races, there is no
way on earth I'm going to quit!"
Suzuki padded its points lead in the SuperQuad Pro
450 Manufacturers' Championship and now holds a four-point
lead ahead of Honda. Suzuki closed to within three
points behind QuadTerrain Challenge manufacturers'
points leader Arctic Cat.
