Dustin Wimmer Taks First Pro Victory, Grabs WPSA Points Lead
Scott Kilby gets off the Schneid with First Pro ATV Tour Win

Taylorville, IL (7/9/2006) - Dustin Wimmer showed the poise of a veteran by winning his first professional ATV race, and Scott Kilby netted his debut WPSA PowerSports ATV Championship Tour victory during Sunday's Jack Link's Feed Your Wild Side ATV Championship at South Fork Dirt Riders. The event, Round 6 of the 2006 title chase, was the second round of the Illinois double championship weekend here.

Wimmer (No. 191 East Coast ATV, Axis, Sparks, Maxxis/Honda) was first out of the gate in the SuperQuad Pro 450 event and earned the $1,000 Quad Magazine Holeshot Award. From there, he was in his own zip code, leading every lap virtually unchallenged. With the victory, the Center Valley, Pa. rider took the lead in the Riders' Championship. Jeremiah Jones (No. 2 Team Suzuki, Yoshimura/Suzuki) came out atop a three-quad battle for second, ahead of Patrick Brown (No. 199 Factory Yamaha, Golden West Cycles, Ohlins/Yamaha). Doug Gust, who led the points coming into the race, suffered a rare mechanical failure while running third in his No. 55 Team Suzuki, Yoshimura/Suzuki and finished 19th.

Dustin Wimmer's Curtis Sparks Honda once again catapulted him to the front of the pack to claim the Quad Magazine $1,000 Holeshot Award while chaos broke out behind him with Matt White, Jeff Robins, Chad Wienen, and Thomas Hager piling up in turn one followed by Tavis Cain and Joe Haavisto tangling in turn three.

"It really hasn't sunk in," said Wimmer. "We unveiled a brand-new quad this weekend and the setup was perfect for this track. I like high-speed tracks like this. You definitely have to hang on, and set up for the speed. We just need to stay consistent and do my best going into the last four races."

Yamaha's Pat Brown
K&K ATV's Pro Rookie Josh Creamer
Yamaha's Pat Brown finally earns a spot on the Pro Podium after coming so close several times since turning Pro at the end of the 2004 race season.
K&K ATV's Pro Rookie Josh Creamer finished a career best 4th place ahead of Yamaha's Kory Ellis continuing to pick up some steam as the season progresses.

Kilby (No. 227 Maxxis, OMF/Can-Am) survived a tough QuadTerrain Challenge Pro Stock race. He took the point for good when three quads tangled in the log jam on the third lap. He wasn't challenged from there and beat William Yokley (No. 23 Suzuki) and Brock Parker (No. 493 LTE Exhaust, Super Grips/Can-Am) to the finish. Daryl Rath (No. 67 Rath Racing, Maxxis, Douglas Wheels), who finished fifth, holds the points lead ahead of Yokley and Kilby, but only nine points separate the top three in the standings. Clifton Beasley (No. 226 Warnert Racing, Chapman Performance/Can-Am) was the first out of the rock crawl and won the ATVRiders.com "Rock'n'Roll" Award, worth $500.

"It's about time I won one," joked Kilby. "I've been on the podium all but once this season. We had good luck today. It requires a lot of skill and tact to get through the logs and pick the right lines on the track. If you don't pick a good line, it doesn't matter how fast you are, you're going to get stuck. I took a risk, went to the inside over a big knot. I wasn't sure I was going to make it, but I really didn't have another choice. I jumped, throttled it, and it just went."

Suzuki continues to hold its points lead in the SuperQuad Pro 450 Manufacturers' Championship by two points ahead of Honda. Can-Am and Suzuki are in a dead heat, with 67 points apiece in the QuadTerrain Challenge Pro Stock manufacturers' points, and sit 10 points ahead of Arctic Cat.

Sunday's race will be telecast on ESPN2 on Saturday, July 22 at noon EDT. The PowerSports ATV Championship Tour's next race, the AMSOIL ATV Championship, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23 at Wild Cat Creek MX in Rossville, Ind.
