Frankfurt, KY (3/9/2009) - William
Yokley finished 33rd Overall and 12th in the XC1
Pro Class today. There were 230 total entries
with 21 XC1 Pro Riders. Team Rider Mark Notman
was 159th Overall and 27th in the 35 rider XC2
Pro Am Class after experiencing some mechanical
                                issues and not finishing.
                               GNCC ATV Race Summary:
We stayed in Florida between Round 1 and Round 2
in Georgia. I wanted to get everything cleaned up
and do some more tuning on my bike, as well as rest
my banged up wrist. It’s always good to get
through the first 2 rounds and get in a routine
for the upcoming races. It’s only 6 days between
the first 2 races and not a whole lot of time to
do much except clean up, fix things, and prepare
for the totally different terrain in Georgia.

Yokley | The track on Georgia is always fun but also very
rough; part of the course is on a pro-style moto
cross course and it typically gets very rutted
out in the woods sections. The weather was perfect
for a good day of racing. I got off to a decent
start, and as soon as I got in the woods I realized
my set up was not right for the conditions. I
can usually overcome most anything, but with my
wrist not fully recovered, I could not push like
I wanted. I was as far back as 18th in the XC1
Pro Class but worked up to 12th at the finish.
Not what I was hoping for but, my 450 Polaris
Outlaw ran flawlessly and I am very happy with
the machine. My teammate Mark had a pretty difficult day and
another dose of bad luck. Because he was not in
the top 10 in points after Round 1, he had to
draw for a starting position and he was unlucky
enough to have the last pick on the starting line.
Mark lined up on the very outside and when the
flag dropped he actually got a decent start. After
about 3 turns, there was a big jam up and he went
into the woods in almost last place. He pushed
hard and worked up to 16th place on Lap 4, and
was trying to get in the top 10 before the finish.
Mark noticed the idle of the motor kept getting
higher and higher. Eventually the motor shut off
and would not restart. He found that the carburetor
                                boot going to the cylinder had split in half;
this is something that hardly ever happens. It’s
certainly not the fault of the machine; it’s
just one of those unfortunate situations. We have 2 weeks before our next race at the beautiful
Steele Creek track in Morganton, NC. We will sort
things out and be ready to get some better results.
