Chad Wienen Takes Spring
Creeks Pro ATV MX Win
::Continued::
Coming into the eighth round, Hetrick was not
feeling his best. “Monday I had the stomach bug
and Tuesday I went riding and actually wrecked.
It was an off week. I stopped riding and regrouped
before I came here. I ended up doing pretty well,
I am happy with my finishes,” explained Hetrick.

David Haagsma is picking up real momentum at
this point in the season, taking back to back
podium finishes. Haagsma went 3-3 for third overall
at Spring Creek.
“Moto one I was second or third off the start.
I held Wienen off for a few laps before he was
able to get around me on the whoops. The rest
of the race I just ran my own pace and ended up
in fourth with two laps to go. Then Rastrelli
had a little issue in front of me so I was able
to take third,” stated Haagsma.

In moto two, Haagsma once again was off to a
great start and battled his way to a third place
finish. Haagsma’s battles came all the way down
to the last lap, where he narrowly held off Rastrelli
at the checkered flag for third. “3-3 is the best
moto finishes of my life. We had a great race
this weekend and got two great starts,” said Haagsma.

Root River Racing’s Josh Upperman took his season
best fourth overall finish with 5-5 moto finishes.
“We had a really good bike setup and I put my
head down. Moto one I came out around fifth and
ended up settling in for fifth. Second moto I
came out of the gate in fourth and settled in
for fourth overall so I was definitely happy with
that. We have had our ups and downs this season
but for the most part we have been consistent
and that has a lot to do with the RRR team making
that happen for me,” said Upperman.

Brown went 4-7 for fifth overall. “Moto one I
had a good start and was sitting around fifth
on lap two and all the sudden the bike died. I
was trying to figure out what was going on and
all the sudden I got power back and took off.
I pulled on somewhere around tenth and worked
my way back up to fourth by the end of the moto,”
explained Brown.

off Brown

Second moto Brown battled with Nick Gennusa all
race and was not able to make the pass around
him. “Gennusa was riding good. I could not find
a line around him. I ate roost from second lap
on,” stated Brown.
After holding Brown off in moto two, Gennusa
took a solid sixth place overall. “It’s a good
learning year for me. I’m in about sixth right
now. I had one race that went bad for me which
cost me a lot of points, but we have four more
races left and I am going to stay consistent.
Right now these are just learning years for me,
so I am just being a sponge and taking it all
in,” said Gennusa.

Ronnie Higgerson took a hard fall in timed qualifying
but pushed through to salvage a seventh place
finish overall. “Second qualifier I caught rut
on one of the big hills and me and the quad tumbled
all the way down to the bottom. I put it in the
back of my mind for the motos, and went out and
did the best we could,” explained Higgerson.
