While there was plenty to celebrate this weekend
at Spring Creek, there was also a tragic accident
that took the young life of Kyler Lenz, so our
thoughts and prayers are with the Lenz family.

Hetrick, on his Maxxis/Elka/Liquid Wrench/Honda,
was virtually unbeatable during the weekend. He
won the ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award,
pulled both holeshots, swept both motos, and now
sits just one point behind Chad Wienen in the
championship standings.

In moto one, Hetrick took the lead at the start
and then held off a charging Wienen to score the
victory. In the second moto, Hetrick lost the
lead to Wienen two laps into the race, but a mistake
by Wienen allowed him to make the pass and he
went on to victory.

“Chad made a few mistakes and I capitalized,”
said Hetrick. “I’m so ecstatic to get the top
spot. It’s going to be an intense last three rounds
and I’m looking forward to it. Chad is going to
give me hard battle, as well as Thomas and Jeffery.
You can’t count anyone out.”

The victory is Hetrick’s first-ever here and
puts him in prime position for his first ATV Motocross
National Championship. With just three races left,
the points race is going to be tough when series
heads to Unadilla in two weeks.
“I’ve never been this close,” said Hetrick. “This
is definitely some added motivation headed into
the last three rounds. I really enjoy these last
three race tracks. It’s going to be hot and we’re
going to put in some extra work. This is big for
me and I want to try to win my first championship
this year.”
