In the LCQ, Jason Dunkelberger grabbed the holeshot,
but it was Jasmine Plante who was first across the
finish line to secure his spot in the main event.
Joining Plante in the main event via the LCQ were
Dunkelberger, who took second, followed by Kawasaki’s
Russell Shumaker, and Sparks Racing’s Rocco
Arno, Jr. Unfortunately, Hunter Miller, Brian Ace,
Trent Kandel, and Rich Stambach did not qualify
for Sunday’s Pro race.
Going into the final round, there were several
points battles going on between riders. Joe Byrd
was holding second in the points race, but veteran
Suzuki racer Doug Gust was in a close third and
could take away Byrd’s position if conditions
were in his favor. Jeremy Lawson and Josh Creamer
were also close in points for the fourth place
position, and with Josh’s impressive finishes
in the last few races, Creamer was favored for
hanging on to 4th.
Further down the line, there were several racers
within a points battle to make the top 10 with
Sparks Racing’s Rocco Arno Jr, Kawasaki’s
Keith Little, Can-Am’s Cody Miller, and
Yamaha’s Pat Brown all within a few points
of each other heading into the final motos of
the season.
When it was time for the Pro’s to leave
the gate in the first moto of the main event,
it was Josh Upperman who grabbed the holeshot,
with Josh Creamer, Doug Gust, Greg Gee and Chad
Wienen nipping at his heals. Despite his good
start, Gee began to drop back due to some suspension
issues, but Upperman rode strong and continued
to lead for three laps, while Josh creamer applied
the pressure.

Motorsport's Josh Upperman grabbed the Moto
One Holeshot |
Chad Wienen began working his way up and found
himself in third by lap three. It was in lap number
four that Josh Creamer made his move and got around
Upperman. Shortly after Creamer made his move,
Wienen also managed to get around Upperman and
began his pursuit of the #9 Kawasaki. In lap number
six, Wienen was able to slip by Creamer and take
over the lead.

Monster Energy / Kawasaki’s Josh Creamer
would lead the race for several before Suzuki's
Chad Wienen would take over the lead with
Creamer maintaining the 2nd spot to the
checkered |
Suzuki's
Chad Wienen season has been plagued with
bad luck, but in the final stretch of the
season, Chad has come on strong with yet
another first Moto Win, which set the stage
for an Overall Win
|
Chad Wienen, who was plagued by injuries this
season, seemed to be in top form as he made his
way to the front of the pack and kept a steady
lead for the entire last half of the race. Although
teammate Dustin Wimmer already had the championship
in the bag, Chad was doing his best to gain points
and improve his end of the year standings.

Suzuki's
Doug Gust made the pass on Honda's Joe Byrd
through the 10 Commandments with Byrd dealing
with mechanical issues, which sent him back
to a 10th place finish in Moto One |
Meanwhile, Doug Gust, who had fallen back to
5th, was trying to work his way back up in order
to gain points on Byrd, who was doing well and
gaining ground until he ran into mechanical issues.
Joe Byrd had come off the gate in 7th, and had
worked his way into 3rd, but a broken header forced
him back to 10th place and gave Gust a chance
to pass him in the points race.
As racers crossed the finish line, it was Chad
Wienen in 1st followed by Josh Creamer in 2nd
and Doug Gust in 3rd. Gust’s 3rd place finish
put him within close range of taking second away
from Byrd with Byrd only finishing in 10 place,
unless Byrd could make a comeback in moto two.
