ATVA Motocross Nationals
Round #10 - Links
Pell City, AL – The first ever ATVA Motocross National in Alabama proved to be a summer sizzler with temperatures soaring to over 100 degrees paired with high humidity meant for some brutally hot racing conditions, but the “Alabama Slammer” Keith Little is accustomed to these blistering summer days in the south, and he continued his matrimonial momentum by winning his third consecutive national event including last weeks Extreme Dirt Track pro win. Keith Little has been hotter than a firecracker since tying the knot with his longtime sweetheart LeAnne as he hasn’t lost a race since, and the win this weekend was the sweetest of them all with his family and friends all in attendance to share in the excitement.

Team Yoshimura / Suzuki’s Doug Gust and Jeremiah Jones rounded out the Podium with the pair swapping Moto wins. Harold Goodman grabbed the Holeshot in the first Moto with Jones charging his way to the front by the halfway point to claim the win while Gust charged his way through the pack to a fourth place finish behind Little and Goodman. In the second Moto, both Gust and Jones were off to great starts chasing after Little in lead, but Jones was go over the berm and off the track trying to pass Gust, which sent him back to the rear of the pack. Gust continued his charge and eventually passed Little to take over lead and second Moto win. Amazingly, Jones was able to maneuver his way up to a 5th place finish, which was enough to edge out Harold Goodman for the final Podium spot.

After finishing second in Moto One, Keith Little grabbed the 2nd Moto Holeshot, which set the stage for the overall win
Doug Gust and Jeremiah Jones swapped Moto wins once again as they move within striking distance of the Pro Championship
The current points leader Joe Byrd started both motos midpack and was only able to salvage a 5th place finish with an injured John Natalie Jr. finishing back in 10th place, which has opened the door for Doug Gust to slip past Natalie Jr and move into second place in points and only 13 points behind Byrd. Jeremiah Jones sixth consecutive Podium finish has moved him up into fourth place, and he is now only 32 points behind Byrd as well.

Harold Goodman and Dustin Wimmer were once again dicing it out with the leaders, and Goodman just missing the Podium with Wimmer finishing 5th in the first Moto, but a collision with Jeremiah Jones in the second Moto took him out of Podium contingency, but he still managed to charge his way back to a 10th place Moto two finish and 7th place Overall. Their recent success on the track is no fluke as they have been training vigilantly with Dr. Rice of Moto TST, and all of their hard work is becoming very evident on the track.

Houser Racing's Harold Goodman grabbed the Holeshot in Moto One and went 3-4 for the weekend, which was one spot from the podium, but he has now moved into the top ten in pro points
East Coast ATV’s Dustin Wimmer had a great first Moto charging his way up to 5th place, but a bobble with Jeremiah Jones sent him back to a 10th place finish in Moto Two.

Wrap-Up

With the points chase heating up with Gust and Jones gradually moving in on the Byrd and Natalie Jr over the past five rounds of racing, the final four rounds of the 2006 season will surely keep everyone in suspense as the championship appears it may not be decided until the final race of the season in Kentucky unlike the past two years with John Natalie Jr and Doug Gust wrapping up the Championship with several rounds remaining.

Round eleven of the 14 Round Series will be held at Sunset Ridge Motocross Park in Walnut, IL, and it will be yet another brand new location on the ATVA Motocross National tour, and if it is anything like the past two new locations, everyone attending will surely be glad they made the trip to the heartland of America as Keith Little looks to extend his winning streak.
