Pro Class Winner Shawn Hess
Sunday morning, yes, the wind has finally reduced it’s fury to only 10 mph gust. The 15 rider Pro class blast off to find Josh Hahne with the holeshot. As the dust clears we see Kyle Porter still sitting on the starting line with his dad and some friends beginning to give him a push to get his machine fired up. Before the riders hit the woods Shawn Hess was able to put a pass on Hahne for the lead. Shortly after entering the woods Hahne cased out on a stump and got pitched over the bars for what appeared to be a FX wrist. This kinda stacked the riders up just momentarily but allowed Hess to stretch out a huge lead while running up front in clean air. At the end of the first lap Hess had pulled out to a minute and half lead over Austin Aldridge and Garrett Oliver. Aldridge and Oliver were hooked up and riding within seconds of each other for the first two laps. By the end of the third lap Hunter Miller entered the picture and took over 3rd. Miller had rebounded from a poor start and worked his way through the 15 rider field in commanding fashion. Lap four had Oliver taking a spill that knocked him a little silly and forced him to back off the pace so that he could at least make the finish line. In the mean time Scott Dunn, and the Moster brothers Charlie and Tony were moving forward in the standings. Out front it was no contest, Hess was on his game plan and no one was going to have a chance at derailing him. His lead at the finish line was over 6 minutes. While passing a lapped rider Miller blew a turn that cost him a one lap penalty and a second place finish. Even though the missed turn was not intentional and did not save that much time the marked course is what all riders are required to ride. Aldridge finished 2nd in class followed by Charlie Moster, Scott Dunn, and Tony Moster. Kyle Porter came back from dead last to finish 6th place.

In the Open class Lexie Coulter took the holeshot and pulled out to a early lead that she held for 3 laps. Josh Robinson reeled Coulter in and made the pass with 2 laps to go and took it home for the win. Coulter held on to second followed by Brian Firth, Charles Carlock, and Anthony Perry. In the Junior class Micah Ames had the win in the bag but on the last lap a tool came lose under the seat and shorted out the battery causing him to lose a 9 minute lead over second place. Chad Tempel capitalized on Ames misfortune and took the win. Ames got going again and managed to chase Tempel down and was right on his rear bumper at the finish. Jason Thomas, Keaton Haverkamp, and Levi Mitchell finished out the class. Dan King must have had his little friend with him during the race this weekend. King took the lead in the 30+ class and never looked back. Carlos, I mean Brad Dunn tried everything he could to reel in King but he was not going to be denied the win. Todd Clark, Phil Enis, and Nick Harwell rounded out the class. In the 40+ class

Kyle Porter
Glenn Hess took the win followed b y Lorne Neu, and Larry Gustine. The Open Int class was won by Austen Gustine who had one heck of a battle with second place finisher Marty Stone. For the first 3 laps these guys were going at it, passing each other several times. In the end Gustine kept it together and pulled of a good win. Third went to Roman Solarczyk, Nate Campbell, and Joe Becker. First race of 2007 is now in the books.

The next race is March 18, 2007 near Bryan Texas at the Soggy Bottom ATV park. See ya there.
