Beau
Baron adapted quickly to his new Honda 450R
ride as he chased after CanAm's Jeremy Lawson |
Beau Baron, who was testing out his new Honda
450R, that Mike Cafro built for him to race at
the WORCS series this coming season, was making
progress as well. Baron got around Cockrell and
began to pull away also, but Beau was unable to
gain any ground on Lawson who was holding a strong
lead. Meanwhile Mike Cafro battled with Cockrell
for the 4th spot .
MCR team member, Levi Marana, who was dead last
off the start due to stalling out, was making
incredible time, working his way through traffic.
Levi’s efforts soon had him up in 5th place
where he would stay until crossing the finish
line. Julie Russell, who entered in the Intermediate
class . Julie ended up taking a very respectable
third place in her class and 11th place overall.

Jeremy
Lawson claims his first win with his new
team Can-Am / Motoworks |
Jeremy Lawson remained unchallenged, taking an
easy win. “This was my first GP style of
event and it was a lot of fun. I wasn’t
even expecting to race. It was just a last minute
decision, but I’m glad I did so we could
do some fine tuning on the bike,” said Lawson.
Beau Baron, who crossed the finish line in second
was also trying to get things dialed in for next
season. “This is my first race on the new
bike and so far I really like it. I’m really
excited about being a part of Mike Cafro’s
team next year,” Baron stated. “I
really want to get out there and do a lot more
riding to be ready for next season. I think the
competition is going to be a little tighter at
WORCS this year, but having the team back me is
really going to help a lot. I think it’s
going to be a very good year,” said Beau.

2008
Quadcross Expert Champion, Davi Haagsma
finished an impressive 3rd Overall against
some stiff competition |
Levi
Marana overcame a last place start to claim
a 5th place finish after passing Robert
Cockrell in the final lap |
“We are really excited to have Beau on
board next year. We got to know him over the last
season at WORCS and he’s a really great
guy and is a good fit for our team,” said
Mike Cafro. “I’m also really proud
of our whole team today as well. We took three
of the top five spots in the Expert class and
Julie finished third in the Intermediate class.
I think it was a great way to do some fine tuning
to get ready for WORCS,” Mike concluded.
Members of team MCR will be making their next
racing appearance at the PIAA 8-hour Endurance
Race on January 10th that will be held at Speedworld
MX in Phoenix, AZ. “Levi and I will probably
be teaming up for the 8-hour race at Speedworld.
I think that race will be a lot of fun. I want
to get out there and get as much seat time as
I can before WORCS starts up again,” said
Baron, who placed third in the WORCS 2008 Pro
points race.
Team MCR seems to be off to a good start, taking
three top five positions at this weekends Big
6 race and with the addition of Beau Baron to
the team line up, it’s quite possible that
the team could see a WORCS Pro championship for
next year if everything goes well.
