Best in the Desert - Mint 400 - UTV Race Report
::Continued::

Craig Scanlon’s 1931 Jagged X Racing Team were just outside of the top five as they completed the first lap, but with many teams having issues, they were able to make good time and jump to the number four position before reaching the finish line less than thirty seconds behind third place.

Rounding out the top five was the Jason Murray team, but Jason Murray was not the one behind the wheel for this race after an incident at the King of the Hammers, where he got his middle finger caught in the winch. Luckily, his brother Derek Murray was able to take the controls for the Mint 400, and did a great job as he rounded out the top five.

“The Can-Am ran absolutely awesome today. We were pushing it and running top three all day until we lost our brakes three fourths of the way in the first lap. I ended up blowing a belt when I was pushing it trying to get to the top. We dropped back a bit and then fought our way back up two or three more positions, so we’re glad to finish the race,” said Derek Murray.

Coastal / Holz Racing’s Scott Kiger started the race, and was running for a podium finish before he handed the RZR off to Mark Holz, so Kiger could fly to Georgia and race in the GNCC SxS racing opening round.  Kiger made it just in time and rounded out the XC1 Modified podium after an incredible day of racing, but unfortunately, the Mint 400 RZR broke down shortly into the second half, so Holz wasn’t able to finish the race.
