Best in the Desert Racing - BITD Series

BITD UTV World Championship - Desert SxS Race
::Continued::

“We did some tuning on the clutch in the morning and did a few tweaks here and there, and this was the first time I haven’t had issues and I got to take a win. We got first pick in the land rush start draw and we were second off the start and we were lucky to get out front early, so we didn’t get a lot of the dust. The course got really rough out there and the infield was brutal but our ITP tires handled it really well. I am really excited to take home the RZR, it’s like icing on the cake,” said Sims.

Cognito Racing’s Christina Perkins, who missed out on racing in the Parker 250 due to illness, was looking smooth and consistent at the UTV World Championship. Perkins had a good run and was able to move into the second place position late in the race and held it all the way to the checkered flag.

“I had the flu for the first round and my dad drove for me and he had to miss this round so it is kind of a bitter sweet finish for me. We have been racing for several years now and this is the first race where we haven’t had issues and it feels really good to get a second place finish,” said Perkins.

The # 1906 father and son team of Paul and Chris Cooper seemed to come out of nowhere and claimed a third place finish in the Pro UTV class. “This was a very good race for us. The land rush start was a bit crazy and we had a run in with someone on the start but we got out there and ran a good race. This was our fifth race and this is our best finish so we are pretty excited,” said Paul Cooper.

UTV Inc.’s John Angal was looking good out on the course as well and was really going for it in the infield as he attempted to get the prize on the Fox long jump. Angal was running in the number two spot early in the race but a power steering issue sent him to the pits. Angal was able to fix the problem and got back out on course. Angal had a couple more issues but hung on for a fourth place finish. “It was a rough course out there. We were up in second and had a power steering issue but got back out there and even though it was rough and we got up on two wheels several times we still finished in the top five so I am happy with that,” said Angal, who also made the trophies for the UTV World Championship.
