Ran
moved in Saturday afternoon, which delayed
the start of the Main Events, but there
was plenty to do when the soap, water,
and plastic came out for an impromptu
slip & slide. Of course, Zac Willet
was right in the mix of the fun &
a large crowd of spectators gathered around
to watch while the race track was prepared

Although conditions were dry for the days heat
races, Mother Nature would let loose and cause
a four hour rain delay. Racing would eventually
continue and track officials did an excellent
job of prepping the track after the rain let up
but some slick spots remained, keeping riders
on their toes, and going off the track could prove
to be hazardous.

#038 Michael Coburn held the 2nd spot, but
after losing his rear brrakes, he was unable
to challenge Harold Goodman for the win |
As the Pro class left the line for their main
event, it was the number 708 Honda of Harold Goodman
who would claim the holeshot. Goodman looked smooth
and confident, despite the somewhat slick conditions,
and held his lead from start to finish, even when
Michael Coburn was close behind. “It was
a little slick out there, but I just stayed focused
and tried to ride smart. I knew if I didn’t
that any slight mistake could cost me the lead,”
said Goodman.
Michael Coburn quickly tucked into second behind
Goodman and was waiting for Goodman to slip up,
but with only a few laps to go, Coburn lost his
back brakes. “I was right on Harold, but
when my brakes went out I had to back off a bit,”
said Coburn who will be trying his luck at the
annual Pike’s Peak International Hillclimb
on July 19th. “I’m really looking
forward to giving it a shot. I think it will definitely
be a good experience, stated Coburn.
