Sparks Racing's Michael
Coburn Sweeps the Podium at Sioux Falls
::Continued::
On top of all of the fun and activities that
the Coburn family set up for round seven, they
also put in a lot of hours to prep the track and
facility for the weekend’s races. “I
really have to thank all of my family and friends
who came out and helped get the track ready. We
spent about two weeks working on the track to
get it ready and everyone worked really hard and
put in a lot of time to make this happen and we
couldn’t have done it without their help,”
said Michael Coburn.

With round seven being hosted at his home track,
Michael Coburn had extra incentive and inspiration
going for him as he charged off the starting line
in the Pro class main event in the number two
spot. Coburn was right behind Harold Goodman when
Goodman missed a gear allowing Coburn to take
over the lead. Goodman fought back, but Coburn
was able to hold on and take the lead all the
way to the checkered flag for the Pro class win.
“Harold was really close, but toward the
end, I was able to pull away a little,”
said Coburn.

Harold Goodman had taken the win in the Pro heat
race earlier in the day, and grabbed the Pro main
holeshot, but a missed shift cost him the lead
early in the race. Goodman pressured Coburn, but
soon had his hands full as well, when Brad Riley
began to challenge for the number two spot. Goodman
stayed the course and held off Riley, but was
unable to make a move for the lead and settled
in for a second place finish. “I missed
a shift and Michael got by. I tried to take back
the lead, but Michael was riding really well and
didn’t make any mistakes,” said Goodman,
who is still the Pro class points leader.

#27 Brad Riley
challenged Goodman for second but Riley
was still feeling the effects from his shoulder
injury & was unable to make the pass |
Brad Riley, who recently separated his shoulder
and was still feeling the effects, was consistent
in his efforts as he took a solid third in his
heat race and followed it up with another third
place finish in the Pro main. Riley moved through
the pack and was looking good as he challenged
Goodman for second, but the narrow track was tough
to pass on and Riley would connect with Goodman
and backed off a bit. “My shoulder was starting
to hurt and after connecting with Harold I decided
to back off a bit. Overall I’m pretty happy
with how the weekend went. I finished on the podium
in all three classes so I’m pleased with
that,” said Riley.
