Hoosier's Harold Goodman
Wins Pro-Am ATV Championship
::Continued::
The Pro-Am class would be brought to the line
and the track cleared for racing action! With
17 entries it was the biggest “Pro”
class of the weekend and was sure to be intense!
It would be the Rage ATV’s Harold Goodman
ripping off the line and grabbing the holeshot
to lead the pack around the first bend and out
on the 85mph back stretch. The Elka rider was
in top form as he chose the inside-outside portion
of the option lane and would then rip back down
the front stretch in front of the large crowd
on hand.

Hoosier's
#708 Harold Goodman once again grabbed
the Pro-Am ATV holeshot followed by #758
Scott Reifenshneider

“This was a bit trickier of a race, all
of these guys are running so good down here and
I just wanted to come out here and race clean
and wrap this championship up again. Luckily I
was able to do that and hold of Brad for the rest
of the race. My Hoosier Tires were hooking up
great and got me off to an awesome start and they
held up for the 15 lapper even though this track
is really rough on tires. My wife and I have got
a baby boy coming towards the end of the month
and I’m excited to be able to wrap up this
Pro-Am championship tonight and be able to relax
a little more before he gets here!,” said
Harold.

Honda East
Toledo's #708 Harold Goodman secured both
the 2012 Extreme Dirt Track Pro &
Pro-Am ATV Championships with a combined
11 wins out of 16 races

#27 Brad Riley scored the 2nd spot on Podium
after shadowing Goodman for most of the
race |
#27 ESJ / GoPro / Maxxis’ Brad Riley wouldn’t
come off the line in top form but he did was Brad
Riley does best, move up through the pack! “I
knew I had my work cut out for me for the Pro-Am
race but once I’m out there I don’t
care what I have to do to get up front, I’m
in the zone and I just try my best to just get around
people. Everybody is just another four wheeler out
there to me and I just try to make a hole or find
an opening to get around. I came up short this time
but finished 2nd overall in the point and 2nd here
tonight which I’m pretty happy for,”
Riley said.
Harold would have a huge lead heading into the
latter part of the race but Riley was soon on
his tail with a few laps to go. On the last lap
and in the final corner, Riley would try one last
effort on the tight inside line to dethrone Harold
for the 3rd time this season but wouldn’t
make it stick. Nether less, Riley looked in top
form and still came away with a great finish on
a tough track.
#038 Feng Ping / Walsh / DASA’s Michael
Coburn would have a great showing in the Pro-Am
main 15 lapper as he would come off the line within
striking distance for the top spot. As the laps
ticked away and with a hard charging Riley on
his rear bumper, the TRX450R mounted Coburn would
slide his way into the 3rd place spot before the
checkers flew on the evening.

PEP's #038
Michael Coburn claimed the final spot
on the Podium
|
“I struggled a bit in my heat race but
for the Main I was more on my game. I was in 10th
at first and the last gate pick on the front row.
I came off the line in the top 5, but I worked
my way up to 3rd after using the option lanes.
There were 3 or 4 guys that I was really battling
with, but these guys were running so strong. Everything
worked out pretty good and I’m happy to
be up here!,” said Michael

#758 KSR /JB Racing / PEP’s Scott Reifenshneider,
who has only raced a handful of races this season,
would show Harold Goodman a wheel the whole length
of the front stretch at they tore off the line
with Scott tucking in right behind Goodman off
the holeshot. From there, the Honda TRX450R racer
would put his head down and charge hard as the
laps ticked away fending off charges from the
other racers around the tire-eating track.
|
#758 Scott
Reifenshneider & #6 Justin Frindt
battled for several laps with Reifenshneider
holding off Frindt, but at the checkered
flag Frindt connected with Reifenshneider,
which sent Reifenshneider crashing into
the bank, but Reifenshneider held the
4th spot for a career best finish for
the Pro-Am racer
|
Reifenshneider would eventually succumb to the
speed of Brad Riley and Michael Coburn as the
pair were on a mission to the front chasing down
the Bumblebee. Scott would be happy with his fourth
place finish but would go home with a few bruised
extremities. As he and #6 Justin Frindt were coming
out of the last corner, Fridnt on the inside option
and Reifenshneider on the outside, Scott would
be pushed wide and into the front stretch dirt
barried which would send him and his quad flying
wildly over the finish line. Nevertheless, Reifenshneider
would finish in 4th place and come away with one
of his best finishes of the year.
