The opening round featured a full gate of pro talent and the clay based track was prepped perfectly for the event. The season opener also coincided with a large BBQ competition in Kinston. The series offered shuttle bus to take race fans into town for a sampling of the down-home BBQ.  Another highlight of the weekend included famed Arena-Cross racer, Jeremy Street, leading the parade lap before the racing action began.
