Instead
of rain, dust was an issue in Dixieland, which
kept Ken busy watering the track all day |
Elizabeth City, NC - In the Pro Am
Unlimited Class, Mitch Reynolds would secure his second
win of the season over Daryl Rath and regain control
of the points lead over Chris Gary finishing back in
4th place behind Jay Burgin. Reynolds wouldn’t
have as good of luck in the Production Class as him
and Harold Goodman along with several other riders got
stuck behind Zach Stanley when he spun-out heading into
the infield, which allowed Keith Little and Darin Ogden
to cruise to a first and second finish with Zac Willet
barely avoiding the pileup and claiming the final podium
spot over Chuckie Creech.

|
Daryl
Rath finished in the runners-up spot behind Mitch
Reynolds in the ProAm Unlimited Class |
Keith
Little's ProAm Production Win moved him 3 points
ahead of Harold Goodman in the points chase |
In the Open A Class, Marc Noreuil was able to return
to his winning ways with his fifth win of the year over
local Virginian resident Joseph Smith. Eli R. Bieschke
swept the Production A and 4 Stroke A races with wins
in both heats and main events.

Eli
R. Bieschke rode his Yamaha YFZ450 flawlessly
this weekend winning both the Production A and
4 Stroke A Classes |
Michael
Blanchard was one of the few riders able to hold
off the hard charging Candace Lee at Dixieland |
Candace Lee continues prove herself week after week
as she is not only dominate in the Women’s Class
with five wins counting the one this weekend over Bailey
Williams, but she also has a handle on the 4 Stroke
B and Production B Class by winning both heat races,
and finishing the runners-up spot in both in the Main.
Candace is currently leading the 4 Stroke B Class in
points and is second in Production B behind Michael
Blanchard another extremely talented up and coming rider.
Blanchard added two more wins to his resume this weekend
as he extends his points lead in the Production B and
16-24 Class.
Ken Marcou may be well over 50 years old, but he surely
doesn’t show it on the track as he continues to
dominate riders half his age in the 25 Plus Class by
wining his third race of the year and extending his
points lead. Ken doesn’t get much time to rest
at the races either as he races in three classes including
the Vet and Senior Classes. He also is currently leading
the Senior Class over Donnie Allgood, but Marc Noreuil
is the man to beat in the Vet Class as he has won five
races this year with Marcou holding down second place
in points.

The youth racing action has been extremely intense
this year and especially in the 90 Modified Class between
Joel Hetrick and Mathew Carter as they both had two
wins under their belts heading into Elizabeth City with
only 4 points separating the pair. To make things even
more intense before the start of the race, the track
crew watered the track, which had some parents going
crazy over fear of someone spinning out and wrecking
in the slick conditions with go-cart tires, but after
two hot laps, the track actually tacked up great, which
eased the tension in the parent’s corner. The
tacky track seemed to work perfect for Mathew Carter
as he jumped out to the lead while Joel Hetrick was
back in fourth battling with Ryland Johnson for the
third spot. Several laps later, Joel managed to work
his way past Lake Kuba to take over second place with
Mathew Carter running away with the win and regaining
control of the points lead.

Mathew
Carter kept the hammer down as he went on to win
the 90 Mod Class and regain the points lead over
Joel Hetrick |
Lake
Kuba not only stands out from the crowd with his
wild color scheme and spooky goggles, he also
does it with his riding ability |
Lake Kuba may have finished third in the 90 Mod Class,
but he ran away with his sixth consecutive win in the
70cc Shifter 6-11 Class on his Kawasaki, and he is one
of the very few riders to remain undefeated this year.
Paige Bowman finished in runners up spot, which was
enough to move her within one point of Garrett Keister
currently in second place in points.
|
|
Kacee
C. Frazier won her fourth race of the year in
the 90 Production Senior Class and leads the points
over Kristy L Laurine as the Girls Dominate the
class |
James
Albert Kerr was back in action after missing two
rounds and finished runner up to the points leader
Seth Gamm in the 90 Production Junior Class |
Ryan Harness also remained undefeated this weekend
by claiming the 50cc Production Class win over Randy
Riden with local North Carolina resident Tyler Simmons
claiming the third spot. Rian Snittle has quickly made
a name for himself in the 50cc Limited Class by winning
the last two races, which are also his only two races
of the year. Before Snittle hit the track, it was Nick
Schriner dominating the class, but he had to settle
for the runners-up spot this week ahead of Keegan Adamson,
but Schriner remains in control of the points lead ahead
of Adamson.
|
|
Ryan
Harness was able to hold off Randy Riden in the
50cc Production, but Riden claimed the 70cc Production
(6-11) Win |
Rian
Snittle was back for another round of EDT racing
and picked up where he left off at Ashtabula with
another win |
With 27 amateur classes, I can’t cover them all,
but none is more important than another, and there is
surely a class for anyone interested in giving Extreme
Dirt Track racing a try, which includes an exhibition
knobby class for the beginners. With two rounds of racing
remaining in Pennsylvania and Kentucky, there is still
time to scrub some tires before racing season ends.
See you at the races!
