Columbus, OH - With one of the wettest seasons in Extreme Dirt Track racing wrapped up, it was time to honor those riders that were able to overcome the elements and record high gas prices to earn a top ten year end finish amongst the fastest dirt track racers in the country.

The motocross and dirt track race series was separated into two separate schedules in 2002, but it took four more years for the banquet to be split as well, which was long overdue with the huge turnouts at the past two combined banquets in Fort Mitchell, KY.

For 2006, the Extreme Dirt Track banquet was held in Columbus, OH at the Marriot Airport Hotel, and the ATVA Motocross Banquet will be held on November 11th in Pigeon Forge, TN at the Grand Resort Hotel. The racers embraced the new independent banquet with over 300 riders and families filling the Marriot ballroom, and many arrived hours before the banquet to participate in ATV Fury Video Challenge and swimming pool games while others took advantage of the opportunity to receive setup and racing tips from the top pros including Tim Farr, Harold Goodman, Daryl Rath, and Shane Hitt.

Immediately following diner at 6:30PM, the awards program began with race announcer, Robby Whitehead, as Master of Ceremonies. The awards ceremony kicked off with the youth classes, so they quickly return to the playing ATV Fury and swimming in the pool, which was a welcome relief to the parents. Also, for the first time in years, all top 10 riders lined up on the stage and each one of them had the opportunity to thank their sponsors and truly be recognized for his/her accomplishment. Even with 28 classes, the awards ceremony moved right along even with eight special year end awards thrown into the mix, which acknowledge those outstanding riders, mechanic, and sponsor. The awards ceremony wrapped up shortly after 10:00PM, which allowed for plenty of time to hit the dancer floor and socialize with fellow racers and friends.

Here are some of the highlights from the 2006 Extreme Dirt Track Banquet.
