Smiley ran in the 8th spot nearly the
entire race, and he just happy to kick
off the season with a top 10 finish |
With the laps counting down, Cook and Kiser stayed
close enough that it could be anyone’s race
for second as we neared the white flag lap. The
announcer called for some clarification after
reports were coming in that Ballance had moved
back inside the top 5 and when the speaker crackled
a few moments later, it was confirmed that he
was actually closing in on Kiser. Borich reached
the white flag and all that remained between him
and victory was what the next 12 miles had in
store for him. Cook clocked in but this time it
was Bill Ballance holding the 3rd spot. Kiser
had dropped to 4th and teammate Adam McGill was
right behind him to round out the top 5. The top
ten was working itself out as the riders had less
then 25 minutes to make things happen if they
wanted to better their position.

Chris Borich switch to the Suzuki LT-450R
didn't slow him down a bit as he went
on to win the GNCC opening round |
Bryan
Cook held on the 2nd Spot to claim a Podium
fnish to kick off the season ahead of
Bill Ballance |
When the checkered flag came out, it was Chris
Borich running just as hard as he did his first
lap to take the overall win! The Rockstar Energy
Suzuki rider came from behind to snatch victory
from all comers and kicked off his 2008 season
just the way he wanted to, with a solid win.
Bryan Cook rounded the final turn to claim an
outstanding second place finish aboard his Honda.
Yamaha mounted Bill Ballance followed Cook in
rounding out the top three and filling the podium
with three different brands of machine. Taylor
Kiser put in a valiant effort and finished 4th
just ahead of KTM team mate Adam McGill. McGill
was close, and he knows it. McClure and Pickens
both overcame the first turn mayhem with McClure
breakin inside the top 10 finishing in the 9th
spot.

So there you have it. A lot of new things added
to pro row this season mixed with some more
of the same but still packed full of excitement
and thrills. The competition should heat up
as the season rolls it’s sleeves up and
we move into the coming rounds as the manufactures
all vie for victory. Good clean racing and stiff
competition is what makes this series so inviting
for racers and fans alike, now we get to throw
in the hype of brand loyalty and who knows where
it will go!
