Suzuki's
Chris Borich finished in the 6th spot,
which catapulted him back up to 7th in
the points after and opening round win
and DNF at "The General" |
Johnny Gallagher’s mud riding abilities
have shined as he has placed inside the top 10
in the last two events. Gallagher secured an 8th
place finish this round, and is yet another rider
moving up as we head into rounds that favor him
and his riding ability. Following Gallahger across
the checkered flag was XC2 rider Donald Ockerman
who redeemed himself after a mistake at round
two which cost him. Ockerman grabbed the 8th overall
position after putting in a stellar ride. Jarrod
McClure also took another top 10 finish as this
extremely talented rider is learning new tricks
each round and could be a rider to watch over
the next few seasons as he dials in his program.
Rookie Pro Jeffery Pickens is proving he has what
it takes to sit on Pro row and is in a good position
as we head to round 4. Pickens is another rider
that should do well as the series heads into more
familiar terrain and finished this round taking
the 10th spot.

Adam McGill
has lead every lap of the last two GNCC
races and he has won by over a 2 minute
margin at each event as he extends his
points lead to 19 points

#4 Matt
Smiley continues his rise to the top
as he finishes closer and closer to
the Podium with each round after a 4th
place finish at Steele Creek
|
The steep hills at Steele Creek had many surprises
for the racers as if they needed any! The infamous
creek crossing, rocks, ruts and slick roots
were all encountered as this scenic setting
showed no mercy. The changes we have seen on
the podium so far have been exciting to all
and McGill has been the great equalizer the
last two rounds as those behind him all battle
for position as the points start to define themselves.
With Ballance pulling in two podium finishes
and a DNF, he is still within striking distance
even as McGill sits atop the standings. The
top 10 could be filled with newer names if other
teams cannot figure out what it will take to
keep their machines upfront, and allow those
that have had seasons filled with frustration
the opportunity to finally shine as they stick
to the basics and concentrate on riding smart.

Adam
McGill celebrates his Win & Holeshot
at Steele Creek, so will he be able to
continue his streak at "Big Buck" |
As the series heads to South Carolina for round
4, many teams will be hard at work to get issues
resolved and plan out an assault for the next
race. The “Big Buck” round features
rolling terrain with a tighter course that should
offer the racers and fans another exciting venue.
Several riders know they have what it takes
to knock McGill off his winning streak, however
making that a reality will take some serious
effort. With seasoned Pro’s wanting badly
to take the new kid off the podium, this season
is already shaping up to be one of the most
exciting in recent memory.
