Jarrod
McClure had his best race of the season
with a 5th place finish.
|
McGill’s teammate, Taylor Kiser had also
made an impressive comeback. Kiser came from
a mid-pack start to take over 4th place for
laps 1 and 2, and in the third lap, Kiser made
his move into 3rd place, but Kiser also suffered
electric issues in final stretch of the last
lap and dropped back to 8th place and 11th Overall.
Jarrod McClure had a pretty good day as he
came off the line in 3rd place. “Everything
went smooth. I had a good start and ran tight
with Borich for a little while,” he said.
About 3 miles in, Brandon Sommers, who was in
the lead, followed by Ballance, Borich and McClure,
clipped a tree and the trio got past him. Positions
were exchanged several times throughout the
race but McClure held on strong. “On the
last lap I got caught behind a lapper and Yokley
got around me,” said Jarrod, who finished
a career best 5th Overall.

Bill Ballance
and Chris Borich battled all the way
to the finish where Ballance was able
to hold off Borich for the win

Matt Smiley, who had come off the line in 4th
ended up casing a double and flipped just a few
turns into the race. Smiley injured his thumb,
which only allowed him to complete 2 laps before
having to pull off because he was unable to push
the thumb throttle. Michael Houston had his best
finish of the season with a 9th place finish in
the Pro class after switching back to the Yamaha
from the KTM. “It felt good to be back on
the Yamaha, but I do need to get used to it again,”
said Houston, who was also testing out his new
front end that he had just put on Friday night.
Can-Am/Warnert Racing’s Chris Jenks and
Chris Bithell had a little bit better luck this
race. Chris Jenks came off the line mid-pack,
which allowed him to finish in the top 10 while
Bithell, despite a really bad start, finished
right behind his teammate in 11th, which is
a step in the right direction for the Can-Am
as they fine tune their DS450 for woods racing.

of the season

When it was all said and done, Bill Ballance took
home his first victory of the season with Borich
in 2nd, Privateer Bryan Cook in 3rd with William
Yokley and Jarrod McClure rounding out the top
5. Brandon Sommers recovered from his 1st lap
dismount to take 6th place with Ryan Lane in 7th,
Taylor Kiser in 8th, and Michael Houston and Chris
Jenks taking the number 9 and 10 positions in
the XC1 pro class.
