While Polaris RZR’s seemed
to be the dominating force in the UTV classes,
there was a good sized turn out of Honda Pilots
for the Pilot/Odyssey class as well. Even after
twenty years, there is still a large fan base
of the Pilot as they have been making regular
appearances at UTV events around the country,
including the GNCC where John Dains took his Honda
Pilot to the number one spot in the points race
for his class.

While the addition of the UTV’s to this
year’s line up was mainly just for fun,
many racers have expressed a sincere desire
to have the classes become a regular part of
the series. “I will definitely be racing
UTV’s if they decide to have the classes
again next season,” said Yokley. “It’s
a different experience and I think it will draw
a lot more people into the GNCC series.”

“I’ll definitely be racing this
again next year as well,” added Stephens.
“It’s really fun to get out there
and compete and just have a good time.”
For those riders and fans who just can’t
get enough of UTV racing, there is still one
more big race event coming up; that being the
GBC Heartland Challenge UTV Endurance Race,
which will be held on November 7th in Carlisle,
IA and features five UTV classes, which follow
the GNCC Series rules, but this race will last
for 3 hours and continue into the dark, so headlights
will be required with a Friday evening from
4-7PM race time.

Although the UTV classes have been incredibly
popular at the GNCC this year, Carrie Coombs
stressed that in order for the classes to be
a part of next years series, rider input, regarding
rules and such, is needed and she is encouraging
all racers to attend the riders meeting the
day after the GNCC awards banquet, to give their
input. If riders are unable to attend, they
can also submit their comments and ideas to
Racer Productions via email at info@racerproductions.com.
