Snowshoe, WV - Confusion and
a lot of unanswered questions summed up the afternoon
portion of the Snowshoe GNCC as Brian Wolf became
the overall winner for a second year in a row.
Wolf's adjusted time was enough to clinch the
win and steal the show accomplishing what many
felt was an almost impossible feat two years in
                                a row.

The questions about the finishing order and
speculation of an official protest began almost
immediately after the checkered flag flew as
Rockstar / Suzuki mounted Chris Borich crossed
the finish line. The main question being asked
was how did the XC2 class leaders skate by the
XC1 class very early in the race. Speculation
and rumors filled the pits for almost 2 hours
after the finish as the details started to emerge.
Just a few miles into the first lap, was the
location of all the drama as the front running
XC2 riders took a route that allowed them to
bypass many of XC1 racers. It was made clear
that this "alternate" line was not
taken to purposely cut the course or to cheat,
but there was confusion on which line was the
correct line for the course, which prompted
a protest and delayed the final outcome of the
                                  race results.

                                        The Snowshoe Afternoon Podium celebration
was delayed for nearly two hours as the
race officials reviewed the protest &
amazingly a large crowd of spectators
waited for the celebration, but it was
still announced that the results still
were not finalized, but with the summer
break coming to an end, ATVriders.com
is now certain the results will not be
changed, which was the reason for the

After the long wait, the top three overall
riders were brought to the podium as Brian Wolf,
Chris Borich and Walker Fowler took their positions
in that order as the crowd absorbed what had
been previously relayed from the race officials.

For Wolf, the $10,000 purse and the gloat that
was hard fought for taking his second overall
at what is acclaimed as "America's Toughest
Race". Wolf explained from the podium how
they set their ATV up specifically for this
challenging event and just rode it as hard as
he could and it sure played out well for their
                                  team!

For the defending XC1 champion, Chris Borich would
voice his thoughts on the day and immediately
the issue came to light for him as he stated the
XC2 racers came out of nowhere and he knew it
would be a long day. Pushing hard, Borich did
his best to put as much time down as he could
but in the end it wouldn't be enough to take the
overall. The XC1 win however put another few points
between him and Taylor Kiser, padding the lead
as Borich seems headed for his second XC1 championship.
Now for Walker Fowler, this day was a major highpoint
                                in his young racing career.
