New Berlin, NY (9/10/2011)
- Suzuki’s Chris Borich came back from the
summer break to take the win in the mud of Unadilla
while Can-Am/Warnert Racing’s Chris Bithell
and Adam McGill joined him on the podium in second
and third, while Pro-Am XC2 ATV racer, Walker
Fowler, once again claims the overall win from
the second row along with the Pro-Am Class Win
Massive flooding made it difficult for racers
to even get to the races especially those heading
up from the south that would normally run up
Interstate I-81, due to the wet and wild conditions
that have been plaguing the North East section
of the country, but the shortened track at Unadilla
was run on higher ground to avoid the saturated
valley, which made for a fairly dry track for
the racers, which made for a seven lap race
in the Afternoon.
After the John Penton round at Millfield, OH,
Chris Borich extended his points lead over challenger
Adam McGill after taking his fourth win of the
season. Borich showed he meant business and
picked up right where he left off before the
summer break by taking the win at Unadilla.

GBC
Motorsports' Jeff Pickens got the jump
on the field with his GroundBuster tires
& grabbed the Pro XC 1 Holeshot, but
he overshot the turn & quickly lost
the lead to Kevin Yoho |
Conditions were good as racers lined up for
the afternoon classes and that worked to Chris
Borich’s advantage. Chris Borich had a
decent start in the top five and charged his
way to the lead by lap two. In the third lap,
Borich fell back to third, but he was not deterred
and waited for his opportunity to take the lead.
Borich’s patience paid off and in the
final lap, he was able to take over the lead
and take home the win.

DWT's
#1 Chris Borich battled back & forth
for the lead, but at the checkered flag
Borich once again held the lead for his
6th win of the season & third straight
Pro win at Unadilla. Borich's win also
extended his points lead to 36pts over
Can-Am's #3 Adam McGill with four rounds
left in the 2011 season |
|
Foremost
Insurance's #4 Chris Bithell claimed the
2nd spot, which moves him within 10 pts
of #3 Adam McGill in the points chase |
Chris Bithell was in the top ten off the start
and worked up to fourth by the second lap, from
there, Bithell held a steady pace for four laps,
and in the next to last lap of the race, he
made a hard charge, passing Chris Borich and
Adam McGill for the lead. Bithell looked strong
and confident, but in the final lap after a
heated battle, Bithell would fall to second
behind Borich. Bithell held the number two spot
all the way to the checkered flag, taking second
on the afternoon podium.
Adam McGill was outside of the top ten on the
start and he knew that he needed to get out
front fast if he was to finish on the podium.
McGill put the hammer down and moved into the
number six spot by the second lap. McGill kept
moving forward and in lap four, he took over
the lead, but it would not last as he fell back
to second in the next lap.
