Crawfordsville, IN (10/22/2011)
- All Suzuki’s Chris Borich needed to do
was take one more win in order to secure the 2011
GNCC Pro ATV XC1 Championship, and that is exactly
what he did as he took the checkered flag just
two seconds ahead of second place finisher, Taylor
Kiser, securing his third consecutive championship
at the Ironman in Crawfordsville, IN. Adam McGill,
who was the only challenger for the championship
race, hung on to take a third place finish, but
would give up any hopes of being able to win a
championship this season.

The Ironman GNCC round of the series was also
host to the 2nd Annual Pink Race, supporting
cancer awareness and finding a cure. One out
of every four deaths in the United States is
attributed to cancer. About 1.2 million new
cancer cases are diagnosed in the U.S. annually,
and about 564,000 Americans will die of it each
year, which equals to more than 1,500 people
per day. With those statistics, most people
have had cancer touch their lives in one way
or another, and that includes the GNCC community,
who are more than happy to support the cause.
A few racers headed out to the GNCC event a
little early to make a few appearances for the
Pink event. Traci Cecco, Johnny Gallagher, Jeff
Pickens, Steven Squire and Adam McGill to hang
with the 5th and 6th graders at New Market Elementary
School to make special Pink buttons, that would
also allow the kids free admission to the GNCC
this weekend. It was a successful event and
a good time was had by all. “It was a
lot of fun. I do this kind of thing around home,
but have never had the opportunity to go out
of state. A lot of the kids actually showed
up to the races so it was really cool,”
stated Adam McGill.
Just as they did last season, many racers were
sporting special pink number plates, graphics
kits, and even gear for the Ironman, in order
to show their support and draw attention to
this worthy cause. Even the pro class got in
the spirit with plenty of pink on the starting
line.

Suzuki’s Chris Borich was looking to
wrap up his third consecutive championship at
the Ironman this weekend. With his closest competitor
trailing by 36 points, Borich only needed to
finish ahead of Adam McGill to wrap-up the chanmpionship
at the Ironman GNCC, and for the first couple
of laps, Adam Mcgill held the lead followed
by Chris Borich. Borich, who is known for his
patience and control, was content holding down
the number two spot for the first two laps.
Borich eventually fell to third for the third
lap, but in the final lap, Borich made his way
to the front, taking the Pro class win and the
2011 GNCC Pro ATV XC1 Championship.
