#2 Walker Fowler had a bad start and had to work his way up towards the front of the pack at the General GNCC
|
Dragon Fuel’s Walker Fowler had a less than stellar start and had to work his way through the talented field. Fowler had worked his way to fourth position on lap one, but had some catching up to do. #2 Walker Fowler caught the leaders on lap two; he capitalized on Bithell’s misfortune and took over the lead on lap three. He was able to maintain the lead until lap five when Borich used his signature move to get around him.
Fowler easily maintained second place for the
final lap. He and his AmPro / Yamaha YFZ450
ATV even went flipping through tight trees,
two turns before the finish; he was able to
maintain his position as he had five minutes
between him and the third spot.

Emotion almost got the best of Fowler as he explained his excitement to be on the podium alongside Gallagher, “I am more excited for Johnny to be up here than I am for me! He is a mentor on and off the track and I couldn’t be happier for him.”
The highlight of the race came from the third place finisher. Johnny Gallagher had the crowd going wild when the veteran racer crossed the finish line in third position, solidifying his first podium in a decade.

3 minutes ahead of fourth place aboard
his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV to earn his first
GNCC XC1 Pro Podium in 10 years |
Yamaha’s Gallagher had a rear pack start
and was sitting in ninth on the first lap; he
worked his way up to fourth on lap two. He kept
a solid pace throughout the race and was able
to finish three minutes and fifteen seconds
ahead fourth position.
“It still hasn’t sunk in yet. I
am beyond excited to be up here. I can’t
thank everyone enough that has supported and
encouraged me throughout the years,” regarded
Gallagher from the podium.
GT Thunder’s Brian Wolf earned fourth for the day. The finish was well needed after a less than desirable outcome at round one. Wolf had a mid-pack start and ran behind the leaders for the beginning of the race.
