Snowshoe GNCC Racing Morning
ATV Race Report
::Continued::
Bryan Buckhannon has put himself and his Can-Am
up on the podium at every round so far this year
and it has assured him the overall lead going
into the summer break. With no fixed plans, a
new Can-Am is in store for Buckhannon with a possible
appearance at the Heartland Challenge.
|
Jordan Phillips
claimed a 4th place finish at Snowshoe,
which was his best finish since taking
the 2nd spot on the Big Buck Podium at
Round 4
|
The Pro 4x4 class saw a new face with regular
XC2 Pro Am racer, Kevin Cunningham trying his
hand at utility racing. Cunningham would bring
his Can Am Outlander to an impressive fifth place
and has this to say, “I would say my race went
well. Getting into the 4x4 side of racing, everyone
said if you can hold one together at snowshoe
you can almost hold one together anywhere. So
snowshoe was my first race on a 4x4. With less
than two hours on the quad in total, I ended up
5th in my class and 5th overall. This won't be
the last time you'll see me out there, and I plan
on contending for a podium spot in the 4x4 pro
class!”
|
Kevin Cunningham
made his 4x4 Pro ATV debut at the Snowshoe
GNCC & he finished an impressive 5th
overall
|
Another Can-Am racer, Scott Day, would win the
Overall Amateur, coming in sixth overall behind
the big hitting 4x4 Pros. Day was able to take
the lead a mile into the race and held it for
five laps before dropping back to second for a
few miles, only to pull through the mud hole and
regain the lead position. He would stay there
to the checkered flag. Day stated that, “my BNR
suspension worked really good, and my GBC tires
got my through the mud when I needed it, allowing
me to retake the lead.” Day goes into the summer
break leading the ultra fast and competitive A/B
class by twenty seven points.
|
Scott Day
claimed his 3rd win of the season in the
highly competitive 4x4 A/B class, which
extended his points lead
|
Less than two minutes behind Day, Ben Bruce would
bring his Can-Am home in ninth overall, giving
him a second in the Amateur Overall. Bruce is
currently tied for second in the class with Brian
Hulsey followed by Ronald Varndell.

Kylie Ahart (2nd), Angel Knox (1st), Alicia
McCormick (3rd)
|
Angel Knox would assume a familiar position at
the top of the podium in the WXC class followed
by Yamaha rider Kylie Ahart and Alicia McCormick
on her Suzuki. Despite flipping her ATV, Knox
had fun and was able to gap her competitors towards
the end of the race. Said Knox, “This race throws
anything and everything at you, but the Texeira
tech and Axis Shocks combination were fantastic
and did their job perfectly”.
|
Angel Knox
claimed her 4th Women's WXC class win
in a row & her 6th win of the season.
She is currently third in the points race,
but with only 9 rounds counting, she is
on track to win the championship
|
Forrest Whorton won the 4x4 Senior class again,
maintaining a healthy lead over Don Higbee and
Bob Ousley, going into the break.
|
Forrest Whorton
claimed his 4th win of the season in the
4x4 Senior class & he has only finished
outside the top three once all year, which
has him in firm control of the championship
points lead
|
After a several month summer break, GNCC Racing
resumes for the final four rounds of the season
on September 19th at the famous Unadilla facility
in New Berlin, New York.
