GNCC Amateur ATV Racing
Yadkin Valley Stomp - Round #10
Yadkinville, NC

September 9, 2006

The Yadkvin Valley Stomp was added to the race schedule mid-season last year after scheduling conflicts for the Spartan GNCC, and the extremely dry conditions turned the track into a huge dust bowl, and it appeared that it was going to be much of the same for 2006 till Hurricane Ernesto special delivered some desperately needed rain, which cut the dust like a knife and provided the perfect conditions for a weekend of GNCC racing.

Youth ATV Race
Cheyne Gravley sliced his way through the early morning fog to grab the Holeshot in the 90 Production Mod (11-15) Class
Another Walker Fowler dominated Youth ATV race, he has wrapped up the #1 plate for the 2006 season aboard his Cobra ATV. All the parents involved in this Youth ATV racing season have to be proud of their kids because of the impressive riding styles and battles that have taken place during these dueling, tough, muddy racing conditions.

After eight races Seth Mumford and Cheyne Gravley are tied for second place in the points chase in the 90 production modified 11-15 year old class. The remainder of the races should prove to be very interesting as these two boys duke it out for the #2 plate in 2007.

#41 Brayden Shick wins third race in a row and closes the gap to one point between him and #26 Michael Mussi in the 70 Prod (6-11) Class
Brandon Boso racked up yet another win in the 90 stock 11-15 year old class, but Jack Ramsey and Justin Hellyer are close behind in the points chase and with Ramsey already holding one win, Hellyer is out to get his aboard his Suzuki.

In the 90 Modified 8-10 year old class, Michael Ferraro is going to have to step up his game with Kyle Riley now taking four wins and only thirteen points behind in the chase to the title win.

There are only two Youth ATV races left, so at the Powerline Park and Ironman events, be ready for some intense points battling racing!

Morning ATV Race
Traci Cecco claims her 5th Women's Class Championship
With yet another win for the Factory Yamaha rider, Traci Cecco, she is crowned 2006 Women’s Class Champion for the fifth time. There was yet another all girl podium at the Yadkin Valley Stomp with Stephanie Parton second and Angel Atwell taking third. These three women are a force to be reckoned with this year and proving it to all the men! Only one point separates Parton and Atwell for second place, and Atwell already has one win.

In the Utility Unlimited Class, Michael Shelley and Kevin Johnston are separated by only nine points, but Jonathan Bowers is currently the points leader and hoping to be able to hold off the strong force behind him.

Taking fifth Overall at the Yadkin Valley Stomp was Brain Parker from the Novice C 16-21 year old class, but is still second in points with Ronnie Mills having a commanding five race win season.

Joey Marqueria "Wings" appear to be working as he dominates the Sport Class

Joey Margueria in the Sportsman 0-350 class is ready to get himself up on that podium and it will happen if he keeps up his riding like he has at the Sparta Kentucky event and the Yadkin Valley Stomp.

The next time you can see these racers and hundreds more take the track and compete for the points wins is coming soon – the Unadilla raceway will take place September 23, so get ready to cheer for your favorite racer as they battle the hills and trees of New York.

Afternoon ATV Race
#31 Taylor Kiser gave it a run for the Podium leading the overall in lap one followed by # 201 Jarod McClure only one second behind in 2nd Overall
With only three races left in the season, Bill Ballance has moved into a comfort zone with his points lead now after taking another Overall win, this weekend being at the Yadkin Valley Stomp. Chris Borich will have to step up his game plan if he has any intentions on getting the number one plate from Ballance this late in the season. The man to keep our eyes on is The Rock, Duane Johnson. After making a tremendous come back from mid-pack at the Yadkin Valley Stomp to taking second overall, jumped Johnson up to fourth place in the top twenty overall standings, making him a threat to Chris Jenks who still sits in third overall. With Bryan Baker’s third overall finish, it saddled him into seventh overall, just passing Mike Houston in the overall standings with a six point advantage.

Houston was the one to watch at the Yadkinville track; after making smart pit strategy, he moved into the lead and was beginning to pull away from Ballance and making smart lines. Houston would have had his second Overall victory in this 2006 season, but machine failures landed him with not being able to finish the last lap. Don’t count Houston out for the rest of this season; he is looking to get his Looney Tuned Exhaust machine back on the podium. Also, his teammate Chris Bithell is hungry for another podium finish. After dealing with troubles out on the track, and stopping like a Good Samaritan and helping Chris Jenks get his four-wheeler off his legs, he dropped back to finish eighth overall for the day.

Tom Wright wins his second Vet race of the season and close the gap on points leader Chris Earlywine
Pro-AM rider Taylor Kiser is no stranger to top overall finishes either; the Flordia native is showing excellent riding talent this 2006 season and did it once again at the Yadkin Valley Stomp back holding onto third overall by just the second lap. Kiser rode hard to finish sixth overall, beating second place, Jarrod Mcclure, by just under a minute.

4 Stroke A rider, Donald Ockerman from Illinois took an impressive thirteenth overall and beat out Brandon Sommers by just twenty seconds. On the last lap Ockerman and Sommers were together, but Ockerman stepped up his pace and Sommers just couldn’t give anymore. Keep looking out for more battles to heat up as Sommers and Kevin Yoho go head to head for the championship win as Yoho is just ten points behind in the points chase.

So, are you pumped; are you ready for more racing action? Well get prepared for the Unadilla coming on September 23rd and get more GNCC racing action.
