#36
Tyler Lenig |
By the time the Afternoon race started it was clear
that this would be a great race and there was no rain
in sight, just blue skies. Did the PM racers learn
anything after watching the AM race? I know one person
who took his knowledge and passed it on to the afternoon
race. John Bowers from the Utility Unlimited class
won his class and then had to change gears as he is
also the wrench for Jarrod McClure in the Pro-AM class.
Jarrod McClure came out victorious over Ryan Morphew
in the Pro-AM class after blasting out a fifth lap
under the 27 minute mark and passing Morphew for the
win. Morphew held onto second place ahead Jeffrey
Pickens, which was more than enough to secure the
Pro Am Championship over Tyler Lenig after an unusual
chain of events. Until just a few days before the
final round of the series, Tyler Lenig held a comfortable
points lead over Craig Reed in second place, but an
appeal filed by Ryan Morphew was finally reviewed
over eight months later and accepted by AMA, which
lessoned the penalty imposed by Jeff Russell when
he found Ryan Morphew off the track on a fire road,
and Morphew was bumped up to a second place finish
in Florida, which also boosted Morphew into the points
lead over Tyler Lenig, and unfortunately for Tyler
Lenig, clutch issues in the final round put the icing
on the cake for Morphew to claim the Pro Am Championship.

Jarrod McClure secured his first Pro Am Win
and 8th Overall Finish, which was enough to
boost him into the top 20 Overall for the year
and 4th in Pro Am |
#82
Kyle Martin had one of his season best finishes
of the year with a 4th place in Pro Am and 18th
Overall finish, and finshed out the year in
8th place |
With the points title wrapped up in the 4 Stroke
A class by Brandon Sommers, the battle was now on
for the second spot between Kevin Yoho and Donald
Ockerman, and Ockerman was in the divers seat heading
into the final round with Yoho needing atleast a second
place finish to have any chance at the second spot.
Yoho did one better and claimed the win over Ockerman,
which tied the pair in points, which by default came
down to the final race finish, which meant the second
spot went to Kevin Yoho with Donald Ockerman dropping
back to third in an incredible points race.

Stroke A/B Champion
#22 Todd Rothermel |
Another strange turn of events also took place in
the 4 Stroke A/B Class, which forced Todd Rothermel
back out of Pro Am and into the 4 Stroke A/B Class
to secure the class championship over Adam Reed. Rothermel
jumped to Pro Am after the Summer Break because it
appeared he had the class championship wrapped up,
but Reed pulled out two wins and closed the points
gap to only a few points, which Rothermel needed to
finish out the season in the 4 Stroke A/B and only
needed to avoid a DNF to claim the championship. Rothermel
didn’t hold back and lead the race from start
to finish for his seventh win of the year, which secured
his championship over Adam Reed finishing in third
place behind Jeromy Evans.

Open
A Class Champion
#27 Ryan Lane |
Open
B Class Champion
#51 Donald Ockerman |
Open B class was one of the classes that came down
to the wire between Nathan Wallpe and Brian Adams.
Wallpe was the only racer in his class that got far
enough ahead to stay on the lead lap and finish all
five laps. This was all he needed to win the race
and the class championship. Brian Adams did get second
place for the race and for the season in a great battle
to the end. The third spot went to Jon Arnold who
fought his way back from a 15th place start.
In the 4 Stroke B class Brent Foltz took off strong
and ran a wire to wire pace that took the win for
the day. Daniel Frye had to earn his second place
finish the hard way climbing up from eighth place.
Brett Marksbury ran a very consistent race finishing
in third place. Season class Champion Justin Kosmer
tried his hand in the Pro-AM class and finished in
the 18th position.

Dave Simmons wrapped up his 3rd consecutive
Senior Class Championship early, so he tested
the Pro Am waters again and finished out the
day in 10th place |
#228
Thomas Wright wasn't able to pull off the Vet
Championship, but he was able to claim his third
win of the year with his mom trackside "Priceless" |
Vet (+30) had an awesome battle between Thomas Wright
and Jeff Miller. Jeff Miller lead the entire race
until Wright got tired of chasing and took over the
lead on the fifth and final lap and edged him out
by 13 seconds. Sam DeLaney had a good day also as
he rounded out the podium in the third spot.

Special
Thanks to all the Mud Fleas for there help at
the Ironman |
Wow a great year in so many classes. We hope that
all of you finished the season in good standings and
are already planning for the next season. Take this
off-season to get your quads ready and prepped for
the next season. Since so many of the quads are now
the high revving heat producing 4 strokes, perhaps
all the cooling ideas should be looked at closely.
One product that I rarely see in the ATV and Motorcycle
racing scene is called Blendzall. It is a product
that you add to your fuel directly and it will drop
your pipe head temps 40-50 degrees. It was designed
by the Go-Kart racing industry for the high HP producing
Briggs and Stratton motors. Give it a try and see
what you think. There are quite a few racers that
also swear by the Coolant additives as well, and with
the winter break upon us, there is plenty of time
to begin experimenting before the start of the 2007
race season.
The
AMA-sanctioned Suzuki Grand National Cross Country

physically demanding sports in the world. The nearly
three-hour long GNCC races lead as many as 1800 riders
through tracks ranging from eight to twelve miles
in length. With varied terrain including hills, trees,
mud, dirt, rocks and motocross sections, GNCC events
are tests of both survival and speed. GNCC featured
