With many new riders coming up from the morning races,
and some of the A class riders moving in the newly redesigned
XC2 Pro-Am Class it was time for the winter month training
schedule to either shine or bust. I have been covering
quite a few races in the Southeast for the past few
months and quite a few of the riders been spending their
week ends on the road and traveling to get some quality
seat time. Others have just been waiting to get back
out and start racing again. Well the training had paid
off a few of the riders.

Canipe edged out Donald Ockerman for the ATVriders.com
Holeshot Award in the XC2 Class | #784
Brandon Sommers claims the XC2 Pro Am Win and
finished in the top 10 Overall | XC2 rider Brandon Sommers is one of the riders I have
seen in Florida and Alabama lately, and I will say yes
it had paid off. Brandon was the class winner today
after an early fight with third place finisher Donald
Ockerman. Ockerman held the lead early but during the
grueling five lap race managed to slip back into the
third spot. The second place finisher was Ryan Lane
aboard his Honda. Another newly named class was the College A (16-21).
Early class leader John Cunningham ran into some difficulties
slipped back into the ninth position at the end of the
race. This opened the door for Mike Ansbaugh to move
up and take the win for the day. Brian Toney moved from
the fifth spot into the number two position at the close
of the race. Another hard charger for the day Spencer
Dickerson coming all the way from the seventh spot into
the third place finish. Junior A (22+) had Nathan Beyers
in the early lead and then dropped out of the race.
Jason Stover was in second position and he too fell
out of the race. All of the riders leaving the race
opened the door for Chuck Piper to step and take the
win. Richard Tindel moved all the way from the 12th
position into the second position and Derek Hunter mad
the big move from 16th spot op grab the number three
finishing spot for the day. Vet A 30+ also had a few
early leaders that couldn’t hang on and had this
let Jeff Miller move up from 4th to take the win. Ron
Rusch came from fifth to take the number two spot while
Charles Holzschuher moved up from ninth and grab the
third spot for the day. David Baily was the early class
leader but fell out after two laps. Domingo Fuentes
was another class leader but fell out after three laps.

Mike Novak secured the 3rd Spot in the Vet 30+
                                B Class | #224
John Mullaney finished 3rd in the Junior B 22+
Class | College B (16-21) saw Parker Jones go flag to flag
in the number one spot while Andrew Cornwell did the
same in second. Devon Jarrett rode the entire race in
the third spot as well. Evan Fraker was on a mission
as he took off and left the field early and held on
for a nearly six minute win in Junior B 22+. Allan Greenwood
barely held off the hard charging John Mullaney who
came from the twelve spot up to the three spot by less
than half a minute. Jason Lyons was the class winner
in the Vet B 30+ division but the real race was brewing
behind him. Eddy Siegers charged from the fifth spot
and edged out Michael Novak by seven seconds to grab
the number two position. Senior 40+ rider Thomas Wright
put the late move on and moved up the ranks to start
off the season with a victory. Dave Hogg finished in
the number two spot while Carey Anderson rounded out
the top three for the day. Many of the riders mentioned above are washing out
the fine black powder sand that seemed to get in every
nook and cranny of the race quads and getting them ready
for The General GNCC that will expose the riders to
a bit of motocross action that was not available in
Florida. So far the weather is forecasting nice conditions
in Georgia and we look forward to seeing you all there.
                          See you at the races………………
