Moving into the hilly terrain of North Carolina this
was the time for a few new riders to make a showing
while a few of the familiar names just kept doing great
and winning races. With the ATVRiders.com holeshot award
up for grabs Donald Ockerman might as well fill out
a W-2. Once again Ockerman grabbed the award and put
up a fight with Brandon Sommers and Ryan Lane, until
he got to friendly with a tree and that was the last
                          he saw of Brandon.

Donald Ockerman Claims yet another ATVriders.com
XC2 $100 Holeshot Award | He had a good battle with Lane who edged him out and
landed the number two spot. Finishing in the 9th position
overall Sommers captured his third victory in a row
in the XC2 – Pro AM division for a clean sweep
                          so far this season.

Brandon Sommers appears to be untouchable in the
XC2 Ranks as he continues to even challenge the

Billy Good appears to have his bugs worked out
as he charged his way from the back to as season
                                best 13th place finish |
In the Junior A 22+ division Michael Sroka rode his
Polaris with a vengeance and came from an early 6th
place position all the way up to the top class and capture
his first win of the season. Brian Wolf took the number
two spot and Chris Conklin rounded out the top three
both on Hondas. The Afternoon race was filled with coulda,
woulda, shoulda’s. There were five classes that
had a rider fighting for one of the top three spots
and missed it by only a handful of seconds. In Vet A
Dennis Shadron missed out by only .04 seconds. In Junior
A 22+ Lee Dickerson missed out by 30 seconds. In College
A 16-21 Kaleb Nicholson missed the top three by only
.03 seconds. Junior B 22+ racer Time Allen fell short
by .12 seconds. Finally Devon Jarrett also came up short
by only .03 seconds in the College B 16-21 class and
finished in the number 4 spot. Three weeks off before
the next round at Big Buck and these riders will all
                          have something to prove.

Jeff Miller claimed his 3rd Consecutive win in
the Vet 30+ A Class | I spent a few minutes with Stephanie Parton on Friday
and we discussed a few of the issues that had held her
up in the first two races of the season. After replacing
a few of the steering components Stephanie was in great
spirits and confident that she had a shot at winning
in Steele Creek. Let’s just say that Stephanie
came out of the gate and did her best to keep true to
her words. After two laps of some serious racing Traci
Cecco had moved up from a sixth place position up to
seconds and then worked her way into the lead and charged
all the way to the finish taking not only the class
win, but also the morning overall victory as well. Stephanie
did hang on to the number two spot in both her class
and the overall and gain some valuable ground in the
points race. Angel Atwell was the third place finisher
for the women’s class for the day aboard her Yamaha.
