The ever-growing number of possible
race winners at any given GNCC race seems to be steadily
growing, and riders such as Bryan Cook, Adam McGill,
and Chris Jenks have come very close this year. Bryan
Cook put in a spectacular performance in North Carolina,
running up front with the Ballance/Borich show all the
way to the finish. It was Chris Jenks’ day in
Millfield, Ohio, where he passed Ballance late in the
race to finish a solid second behind Chris Borich. Adam
McGill came so close to getting his first overall race
win in Sparta, Kentucky, running out front the entire
race only to be passed at the final corner by Bill Ballance.
Adam’s lead at one point was over a minute, and
showed that he had the speed to get the job done.

#7 Adam Mcgill(left) & #4 Chris Jenks(Right)
both kicked off the 2007 season with disappointing
finishes, but over the last few races, the pair
have come on strong with each earning a runners-up
Podium finishes, which has catapulted the pair
up within striking reach of the top 5 overall
with five races remaining in the fall

The XC2 ProAm class has been a runaway by Brandon
Sommers, a rider who is picked by many to be the next
challenger to the existing XC1 GNCC hierarchy. His
seven wins and multiple top ten overall finishes has
shown he is well on his way to fulfilling the expectations
of his supporters.

Brandon Sommers has already recorded three straight
GNCC Class Champioinship in C, B, and A, and
he is now well on his way to wrapping up a 4th
Championship in the ProAm Class as he only needs
to finish one more race to wrap it up |
Ryan
Lane has been racing in the GNCC Series for
years in the A class, but after winning the
Open A class in 2006, he made the move to ProAm,
and he has been on fire all year and is currently
ranked 13th in the Top 20 Overall |
Racer Productions has done a decent job with the
tracks and the organization of the events so far this
year. With the ever-increasing visibility of the GNCC
races on TV and on the internet, it is quite a challenge
to put on a smooth event and cover all the bases to
make everyone involved come away smiling. The youth
races are very well attended, and getting the kids
started early is a vital element in making the sport
more mainstream. The GNCC’s are steadily taking
on more classes, more races, and more riders- eventually
something will have to be separated to make the event
less congested.
The Snowshoe GNCC received a mixed report card, with
most riders liking the facility but not the race course;
the pitting and parking issues will surely be remedied
if the event returns to the schedule. Staple events
of the series, the Loretta Lynn’s round, the
Carolinas and the Florida opener were great events
this year, contributing to a exciting season that
will continue with a new race location in Somerset,
Pennsylvania after the summer break. See you there!
