Bill Ballance Tops
First-Ever Snowshoe GNCC
Borich rallies to second, Smiley third, Sommers
wins again in XC2
::Continued::
Bill Ballance took over the lead
after the first lap and held a 35 seconds lead
at the checkered flag over Chris Borich
Chris Borich was cut off guard
by shortened race and heads into the summer
break trailing Ballance by 6 points
Borich dropped to the tail end of the top five but kept
charging until he was closing on his teammate Smiley
for second. "It was a really fun track out there,"
said Smiley. "Just a couple of real muddy sections
that you really had to use your head and not get hung
up behind anybody. If somebody got stuck in front of
you, you were screwed, so I was hoping to just stay
with them and pick them off in there, and just make
dust in these last few sections, but hey, what are you
going to do? I wanted to make a move at the end there,
but I guess Bill pitted earlier and he got away a little
bit."
Despite
having a tree branch take a bite out of his
jersey and arm, Matt Smiley was able to secure
his 2nd Podium finish of the year and close
the gap on Bithell and Kiser in the Pro Points
Standings
The
GP Style start eliminated Yokley's starting
woes, and he capitalized on it with his best
finish since Round 3 with a 6th place finish
and currently rounds out the Pro Class top 10
Fourth overall went to LTERacing.com's Chris Bithell
and fifth to West Virginia's own Adam McGill. Monster
Energy/National Guard/Kawasaki's William Yokley was
sixth on a KXF450, with Chris Jenks seventh and Bryan
Cook eighth.
Bryan
Baker secured a 10th place finish, which was
his best Pro finish of the year with the Polaris
Outlaw 525 as he was right at home in the rocks
with the IRS
Michael
Houston's charge into the top 10 was ended when
he snapped a lower balljoint, which ended his
race, but he wasn't alone as many riders were
pulled out
