Jeff
Schultz from Huntington, California was
the Raptor 250 lucky winner |
Yamaha also stepped up at the awards ceremony and
put a Raptor 250 up as a raffle prize for the RiderDown
Organization, and there were 1000 tickets sold for
$10 each. The RiderDown fund was initially set up
to help just dirtbike riders with medical expenses
who could otherwise not afford medical care after
an accident. This year, because of the RiderDown’s
close relationship with Racer Productions, the funds
were extended to include ATV riders. Hoyt Penland,
who was seriously injured at this years Baja 1000
was a recipient of help from the RiderDown Organization.

CanAm
was awarded "Sponsor of the Year"
and CanAm also presented all three 4x4 Champions
(Michael Swift, Rick Cecco, Cliffton Beasley)
with $2,500 Bonus Checks |
Once the awards ceremony was finished, the fun
began. There was a “Best Bod” contest
where the women judged the men on how good they
looked. Some of the contestants included Adam
McGill, Chris Bithel, Brandon Sommers, Jeff Pickens,
Walker Fowler, Taylor Kiser, and Brandon Ballance.
After the guys paraded around on stage for a little
while, it was decided, that Adam McGill had the
“Best Bod” out of all the guys.

Maxxis
Tires, Jeff Horton, kept the party rocking
late into the night as he kept the tunes
thumping on the dance floor |
After the awards ceremonies were wrapped up,
many attendees hung around for more festivities
and dancing at the after party. Apparently Maxxis’
Jeff Horton has talents that extend beyond just
changing tires as he was the house DJ for the
party and spun tunes until the wee hours of the
morning. The festivities finally came to a close
around 3am, which left some individuals a little
on the groggy side for the racers meeting that
took place early on Saturday morning.
At the meeting there was discussion of the GNCC
ATV racers joining ranks with the AMA and becoming
licensed just like the bikes. In addition, it
was also discussed that the 4X4 Limited class
would be allowed to do an air filter change during
the races. There was also discussion about a new
Super Mini class for the Cobra quads and extending
the age limits in the Youth classes. The proposed
age limits would be 8-11 years and 12-15 years
to even out the numbers in each class a little.
Another new class that was discussed was possibly
having a Renegade 500 class. All of the new rules
will be released in about 2 weeks for review before
being finalized.
Most racers in attendance at this years awards
plan to take a little well deserved time off before
they once again start training and prepping bikes
for the upcoming 2008 season which kicks off March
1-4 in sunny Florida.
