Endurance 10 Hour ATV Race Report
::Continued::
A Le Mans style start was in order for the 10
hour ATV main event that saw the Ballance Racing’s
team of Walker Fowler and Taylor Kiser get off
to an early lead with Kiser as the first rider
out. The competition was tight for the pro class
in the early part of the race and positions would
be swapped several times over the first half of
the race.

|
The non-stop 10 Hour ATV endurance race
started with a Lemans start, which had 58
racers sprinting over 30 feet to their parked
ATVs with #3 Donald Ockerman eding out #2
Jarrod McClure of the early lead in the
Pro Class, and in the Pro Utility Class,
it was Team Warnert getting the early jump |
The Ballance team seemed to have a flawless race,
except for a chain issue that caused the team
to fall back to the number three spot at lap eleven
after a penalty was imposed for Kiser receiving
a ride back to his quad that he had left on the
sidelines when he ran back to the pits to get
tools to fix his chain.

|
Ballance Racing's #1 Taylor Kiser took over
the lead by the end of lap one & held
the lead till Lap 11 when Kiser had a chain
issue, which dropped the team back to 3rd
place |
As
day turned to night, Walker Fowler &
Kiser regained the lead by lap 18 by gaining
an average of 30 seconds per lap & once
out front, they pulled away |
Unbeknownst to Kiser or the track worker that
gave him a lift, getting a ride back to his quad
was against the rules and a 1.5 minute penalty
was imposed on the team, but they would put the
hammer down and reclaim the lead after only a
few short laps and lead all the way from the mid-way
point to the finish line. The Ballance team would
end their day with a total of 40 laps completed
in a time of 10:00:12 for the Pro class and overall
win.
|
|
With over a 17 minute lead by the 10th hour,
the Ballance Racing Team pulled over and
waited for the clock to tick past the 10
hour mark to cross the finish line to secure
the Overall & Pro ATV win for the $6,000
GBC sponsored purse |
